210 Restaurant and Live Music Lounge Focuses on Great Music AND Great Food

At 210 Restaurant and Live Music Lounge, great music and great food compliment each other

CHICAGO, IL, October 22, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- At many great live music venues, the food tends to take backstage to the musical acts--but at 210 Restaurant and Live Music Lounge (210 Green Bay Road, Highwood, IL; 847-433-0304), that is definitely not so. Co-owner Jeff Tomchek, who also is the Executive Chef, and co-founders Steve Goldstein, Peggy Goldstein and Judy Shatkin are as passionate about the food they serve as they are about the music. "When we planned 210 Restaurant & Live Music Lounge, we wanted to create the kind of place that we would want to go to," said Tomchek. "We offer a comfortable, homespun lounge feel, delicious chef-driven food and cocktails made with fresh ingredients, plus great live music--it's the perfect combination for a fabulous night out."

The menu is the result of the more than 30 years Tomchek spent building his culinary career across the United States and in Europe, Central America, and South America. "Our food is absolutely not a culinary sidekick to our music--the food is front and center," said Tomchek. "From the beginning, our goal was to offer high quality food that was reason enough to visit 210. Our food reaches across many regional and global cuisines, but we've also made our barbecue and Southern-style dishes prominent on the menu. We serve good-time food that is the perfect accompaniment to good-time music."

Tomchek pulls from his many experiences abroad to create a truly eclectic contemporary American menu where traditional dishes are given cross cultural twists. He believes using fresh, high quality, locally sourced produce and ingredients is crucial for himself and the community and so he sources from local farmers as much as possible.

The menu, entitled "Tonight's Set List" is presented with a musical theme. The "First Set" is comprised of appetizers and small plates, the "Second Set" features the salads, the "Main Act" presents the entrees and "Accompaniments" are the side dishes. A separate "Encores" menu features tantalizing desserts.

The "Special Guests" section includes the numerous weekly specials as well as the featured burgers and sandwiches. It's a fun way to present the wide range of appetizers, entrees, and side dishes that showcase Tomchek's versatility and creativity.

Appetizers include Hawaiian Tuna Poke with toasted Macadamia Nuts ($13); Roast Local Corn Mexican Street Food Style ($5/$8); Korean Chicken Wings ($12); and a superb rendition of Tomato Bisque ($5/$8). Salad options include Roast Beets with Bean Hummas, Arugula & Pine Nuts ($12); Frillman Farms Heirloom Tomato with Burrata & Basil ($11); and a Crispy Chicken Chopped Salad with Chipotle Ranch ($18).

The main dishes are equally delicious. The Baby Back Ribs, Dry Rub & Pit Smoked are tender, luscious and available in three sizes (taste $8, half-slab $16, full slab $24). Other popular items include the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich, Arugula & Remoulade ($13); Roast Scottish Salmon with corn mashed potatoes and Mexican Truffle Vinaigrette ($24); and Andouille Jambalaya with Louisiana Style BBQ Shrimp ($19). All entrees are served with choice of accompaniment.

The mainstay gourmet burger is the 210Live Burger, made with USDA Prime Beef, Tomato Jam, Busia's Bread & Butter Pickles and Dante Cheese ($16).

Side dishes include Roast Local Eggplant with Moroccan Spices ($9); Miso Glazed Acorn Squash ($8); Roast Cauliflower with Thai three flavor sauce ($8) and Bacon Braised Collard Greens ($8); and Not Yo Mamma's Mac & Cheese ($8); and Local Bi Color Corn Sauteed with Peppers & Onions ($8).

Seasonal offerings present global tastes that reflect Tomchek's current cravings and the best local produce. Recent options included Squash Blossom Quesadilla with Oaxaca Cheese ($11); Roast Heirloom Carrots with Tikka Masala & Garbanzos ($9); and Salmon Poke with Sesame Seaweed, Avocado & Pumpkinseed Oil ($12). Recent special sandwiches included Carolina Style Pulled Pork Sandwich with Cole Slaw ($13); Crispy Shrimp Po'Boy ($16); and a Lake Perch Sandwich with Heirloom Tomato & Tartar Sauce ($15).

Guests are invited to check 210 Restaurant's website daily to keep up with the specials.

Tomchek's emphasis on high quality extends to the bar menu too. 210 boasts an array of local beers on tap, craft cocktails made with fresh herbs and fruit and a variety of top-shelf liquors as well as an expanding wine program.

Great music sounds best when enjoyed with great cocktails and great food and, at 210 Restaurant and Live Music Lounge, that is exactly what is on the menu.
