People who have never encountered Stomp before should expect to find the eight performers using a variety of everyday objects - including oil barrels, garbage cans and broom handles - as percussion instruments.

The show was conceived as a joyful celebration of rhythm, with the choreography allowing each individual to express their personality on stage.

"Stomp is about rhythm, which is common to all cultures. Everyone knows rhythm, if only from the beating of their own heart - it is the basis of all music," the official website of the production explains.

Created by Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell in Brighton, the original Stomp debuted in 1991.

Since then, the show has enjoyed extended runs in the West End and New York, won numerous awards and featured in several TV commercials.

Tickets to see Stomp in Dusseldorf are priced between EUR34 and EUR77 (GBP30.10 and GBP68.20)

Evening shows are due to begin at 20:00 local time, with matinee performances starting at 15:00 on June 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th.
