Tax Debt Due to Underreporting of Income? Blue Tax Can Help!

Blue Tax attorneys get to work quick on assessed amounts!

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 23, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When taxpayers underreport income, whether intentionally or accidentally, the IRS always catches up. And when they do, they want to get paid - and now.

Sandra (Delevan, NY) found herself in just this predicament when she came into the Blue Tax offices with an IRS tax liability of $3,636 due to a 2006 tax return filed with underreported income. The goal of the team at Blue Tax was getting this client on a payment arrangement that accurately reflected her income, resolving all of this in a timely manner.

First, Blue Tax met with the client and submitted their personal questionnaire to her for her to fill out. Once the packet had been returned, they faxed the Power of Attorney to the CAF unit of the IRS. Blue Tax contacted the appropriate officers at the IRS to map out a plan for resolution. They were able to confirm that the client was being assessed for underreporting on a 2006 return, however, the assessment was not yet finalized. This gave the Blue Tax team an opportunity to have all of the documents prepared while the assessment was finalized. They then followed up with the client on her welcome packet, which had been sent out earlier. Once that information had been collected from the client, they proceeded to prepare Sandra's financial analysis and collected all necessary supporting documentation from her.

Once the assessment posted in the IRS system, Blue Tax called the IRS immediately to present the client's financial analysis and supporting documentation. They were able to prove to the IRS agent that the client could not pay back the debt. The IRS agent consulted with a manager for approval on the Currently Non-Collectible (CNC) status. Blue Tax then followed up with the agent to verify that the client indeed was accepted for the CNC program. Sandra was relieved to hear that her status of Currently Non-Collectible meant that she was not forced to pay these back taxes right away.
