PHOENIX, AZ, June 09, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The League for Innovation in the Community College has announced that two exciting workshops will be offered in conjunction with the 2011 STEMtech conference being held October 2-5, at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. Educators, industry leaders, and others will gather to discuss increasing student access into and success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and careers. The 2011 STEMtech conference will also help educators explore the strategic use of information technology to better serve their students, campuses, and communities. Complete conference information can be found at www.league.org/2011stemtech.

"The Role of Faculty and Staff in Private Fundraising, Grant Development, and Grant Management" and "CIO Summit: The Impact of Mobile Information and Communication Devices on the Institution" are both six-hour workshops that will take place on Sunday, October 2, with the main conference running from Sunday through Wednesday. "The Role of Faculty and Staff in Private Fundraising, Grant Development, and Grant Management" consists of two critical sections--grant opportunities and private fundraising opportunities--and will engage participants in substantive work that will provide them with practical skills they can immediately take back home and apply. During "CIO Summit: The Impact of Mobile Information and Communication Devices on the Institution", participants will explore several important factors that must be addressed when developing effective and sustainable strategies to accommodate the increasing number of mobile devices being used on and off college campuses. Full workshop descriptions and workshop fees can be found at www.league.org/2011stemtech/summits.cfm.

"The annual 'CIO Summit' is a wonderful and must-do annual educational event that offers an extraordinary combination of learning and collegiality, along with a great history and reputation for meeting participants' needs," said League for Innovation president and CEO, Gerardo E. de los Santos. de los Santos added, "With the considerable need to identify new sources of funding to support STEM programs, 'The Role of Faculty and Staff in Private Fundraising, Grant Development, and Grant Management' workshop will teach participants how to identify appropriate grantors, work through and respond to Request for Proposals, and engage in major gift solicitation to help support their programs."

The 2011 STEMtech conference will also provide an excellent venue for companies to showcase their latest and greatest products and services to K-16 educators. A handful of presentation slots are reserved for League for Innovation Corporate Partners, who are strongly encouraged to submit proposals and exhibit at the conference. Corporate Partners also have the opportunity to sponsor various activities, including the Conference Program, keynote speakers, receptions, coffee and refreshment breaks, and more.

Early registration and group discounts for the 2011 STEMtech conference are available now through September 9. Detailed information regarding registration, exhibiting, travel and hotel, and the conference at a glance can be found at www.league.org/stemtech.
