DoD 8570 Directive Keeps People Seeking Security+ Training

DoD 8570 Directive, which requires certification by information assurance workers has encouraged a number of professionals to obtain certifications to comply. The most popular certification is the Security+, which is just as popular as ever at ACE.

GREENBELT, MD, June 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Advanced Security by Academy of Computer Education is one of the leading training companies for IT security certifications. The DoD 8570 Directive was designed to try and have every information assurance worker on a Government contract get certified by the end of 2010. But since the directive has been extended, more people are seeking the certifications to get themselves compliant with the directive and Security Plus is the most popular.

The CompTIA Security+ training (http://www.trainace.com/courses/securityplus/) course is designed to meet the needs of network administrators, information assurance professionals, and security administrators while remaining in compliance with DoD 8570 standards. In a constantly changing environment where new computer privacy laws are always on the verge of release, there is no agency or industry on the market that cannot benefit from employing a specialist in security or network administration.

In today's interconnected world, it has become a top priority to create and maintain a diverse portfolio of security policies and technologies. Security+ training is the first in many steps of providing students with the knowledge and skills to create and maintain security on a variety of computer systems and networks while simultaneously responding to any breaches of security in appropriate fashion.

Businesses and companies of all sizes are aware of the importance of IT security and information protection, and as a result, have demonstrated a willingness to invest in the aforementioned services. These investments are visible through the fact that a number of employees of the federal government who hold information assurance (IA) positions are today required to obtain certification in Security Plus. The same requirements are placed upon a number of contractors who work in particular IA functions. This requirement was created as a component of the DOD 8570 standard mentioned earlier. It applies in particular to mid and entry-level IT personnel.

At the Academy of Computer Training, the Security+ courses are taught by experienced security professionals in IT who already have attained at least 3 years of experience in teaching. Instructors for the course must also have experience in cyber security and IT security in addition to a number of extra certifications as well as continued professional development within the industry.

The class format is led by instructors but also includes a great deal of hands on activities to the greatest extent possible in order to make the material engaging and meaningful to students. Through the course, students will learn of the implementation, terminology, and protocols related to a full range of IT security and network concepts. A significant component of the focus within the course involves preparation for the exam, and the Security+ class has been designed from the ground up to match on precisely to the certification exam's objectives.

It is important to note that the Security+ certification requires a high passing score on the exam. The course itself involves 40 clock hours and requires students to attend for five consecutive days between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m or two nights a week for five weeks from 6pm-10pm.
