Submittal Exchange Wins 2011 CSI Construction Technology Award

Submittal Exchange , a provider of Integrated Project Collaboration (IPC) software, has been awarded the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Construction Technology Award for 2011

WAUKEE, IA, August 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Submittal Exchange, a provider of Integrated Project Collaboration (IPC) software, has been awarded the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Construction Technology Award for 2011. This award is presented to an individual, chapter, region or group for either the development/use of new materials, methods, technology or project delivery systems used in the building lifecycle, or for the development/use of existing materials, methods or technology in a new or innovative manner for the building lifecycle.

Submittal Exchange, located in Waukee, Iowa, was founded in 2003 by Matt Ostanik, AIA, CSI, an architect who was highly frustrated with the paper-intensive submittal process for construction projects. The company provides collaborative online systems for exchanging, reviewing and archiving construction submittals, RFIs and other construction communications. Today, the company has more than 40,000 users and has expanded its product offerings to include solutions for the design phase of a project, as well as Greengrade integrated LEED management software.

"Our goal is to be a driving force for continuous improvement in the construction industry, providing innovative technology solutions with exceptional service and care. This award is a great honor and a testament to the dedication our entire team has to that goal," said Ostanik.

In one of the nominating letters for the Construction Technology Award, Lynn Ostenson, CSI, CCS, Project Specifier for Eskew+Dumpez+Ripple Architects in New Orleans stated, "For all who use it, Submittal Exchange provides an invaluable service. In a time where construction projects are becoming increasingly complex and the need to reduce waste becomes more and more apparent, Submittal Exchange offers a solution for the tracking of construction administration paperwork that, in my opinion, is crucial to the success of any project."

CSI is a national association of more than 13,000 volunteers, including specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, facility mangers, product representatives, manufacturers, owners and others, who are experts in building construction and the materials used therein. They are dedicated to improving the communication of construction information.

"CSI's mission is to advance building information management and education of project teams to improve facility performance," said Jonnie Cox, Chair of the Institute Awards Committee. "Recognizing organizations like Submittal Exchange and their contributions to the industry brings to light new, and sometimes overlooked, solutions to further that goal."

Submittal Exchange will accept CSI's Construction Technology Award in Chicago, Illinois at the organization's annual convention, CONSTRUCT2011, in September.

About The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)

CSI was founded in March 1948 by the specification writers of government agencies who came together to improve the quality of construction specifications. The Institute grew quickly to include specification writers in the private sector, design professionals concerned about communicating their vision in construction documents, constructors interested in delivering high-quality facilities and material suppliers with unique solutions to construction challenges. These construction professionals continue to work together today as CSI members to effectively communicate the designers' vision, the material producers' solutions and the constructors' techniques to create outstanding facilities that meet facility owners' objectives.
