DAVIS, CA, February 07, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- CCACA brings the ultimate ceramic sculpture event to Davis, CA from April 29 - May 1, 2011. This annual conference is the largest professional art function in the region, hosted by the John Natsoulas Center for the Arts. It is a ceramics weekend of over 50 exhibitions, many hands-on clay demonstrations and interactive clay events. The important thing about this weekend is that visitors can see the biggest collection of student work from over 50 schools, as well as established artists. This grassroots conference and festival will give everyone an opportunity to view work by students of every level of learning and well-known artists. Entering into its 22nd year, this event continues to bring the leading national and international ceramic artists to Northern California for a weekend of creative instruction and collaboration.

This year the conference showcases lectures and hands on demonstrations by renowned artists Amber Aguirre, Joe Bova, Michelle Gregor, Richard Notkin, Tip Toland and Jason Walker. Kevin Nierman, artist, teacher and founder of the Kids N' Clay Pottery Studio in Berkeley, will also present free hands-on workshops for kids, allowing children of all ages to experiment and interact with clay. Kids N' Clay workshops are scheduled for Saturday, April 30th, from 12pm - 3pm.
Beyond the ceramics packed weekend and 50 exhibitions of participating artists, there are many interesting pieces at the University of California at Davis, including Robert Arneson's "Eggheads" at the Peter J. Shields Library, which also holds several other works by Arneson as well as works by Roy de Forest, William T. Wiley, Wayne Thiebaud and more.

The John Natsoulas Center for the Arts will hold its annual gallery-wide 30 Ceramics Sculptors exhibition in concurrence with the conference. The work will be on display from April 20 though May 28, 2011. This exhibition was first conceived in 1986, a collaboration between the late Robert Arneson and John Natsoulas, and continues the ceramic traditions made famous by instructors and students of the University of California, Davis and local ceramic artists.

In addition to 45 major ceramic sculpture exhibitions, there will be over 42 college shows bringing the best work of the year within easy reach. This is a chance to be surrounded with the top ceramic art of today and the ideas of the artists of tomorrow.

The following are the current schools who are either returning or brand new to the conference in 2011: Academy of Art University, American River College, Cabrillo College, California College of the Arts, CSU Chico, CSU Fullerton, Chabot College, College of Marin, College of the Redwoods, Cosumnes River College, Cypress College, Davis High School, Delta College, Diablo Valley College, Emerson Junior High School, Humboldt State College, Los Medanos, Foothill College, Fresno State, Fresno City College, Mendocino Art Center, Mendocino Junior College, Merritt College, Oregon School of Arts and Crafts, Reedley College, Sacramento City College, Sacramento State, San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco State University, San Jose State University, Santa Rosa Junior College, Sierra College, Sierra Nevada College, Skyline College, Solano College, Sonoma State University, Southern Oregon University, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, West Valley College.
