TechConnect Ohio has selected Project SEARCH as our Community Cause for our Fall 2011 event series. Project SEARCH is a High School Transition Program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. According to Susie Rutkowski, Co-Director of Project SEARCH, "It's a unique and highly effective one year school-to-work program that takes place entirely in host businesses. The goal for each student participant is competitive employment."

Project SEARCH is an international program model that was developed by Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center's Disability Services Department, which continues to lead through program replication. "I had the opportunity to meet the team, tour a host site, sit in on the training programs and meet the students and employed graduates while touring Cincinnati Children's Hospital," says Dan Harris, Co-Founder of TechConnect Ohio. "The program, people and the results speak for themselves. I had to find a way to help this organization and this cause."

If you or your organization would like to donate to this cause, tour a program or learn how to become a host company, visit the Project SEARCH website at http://www.projectsearch.us/ or you can contact the team via e-mail at [email protected].
