Pardee Homes Wins Grand Award for New Home Design at Annual Builder Conference & Exposition

With gold honors in Best in American Living awards, Hampton Lane is also a winner with San Diego home buyers.

LOS ANGELES, CA, February 16, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Homebuilder Pardee Homes has earned a Gold Award for new home design in its San Diego regional market, for Hampton Lane at Pacific Highlands Ranch. The national honor was announced at the Best In American Living Awards (BALA) on February 9 as part of the International Builders Show in Orlando, Florida.

Hampton Lane's Plan Two earned its BALA Gold for the design of a detached home of 2001 to 3000 square feet, and was noted by judges for its courtyard design, practical and attractive layout and refined architecture. "Hampton Lane is an excellent example of design that serves today's buyers," said BALA Judge Jeffrey Lake, Vice President, National Director of Architecture for Standard Pacific Homes.

"It maximizes the livability on a home site of modest size, with open great room and thoughtfully designed outdoor entertainment spaces, and delivers the convenience and style that resonate with modern families," Lake added. "We commend Pardee Homes and Bassenian/Lagoni Architects for this quality new-home design."

Plan Two is one of three designs in a single-family neighborhood of Pacific Highlands Ranch, a Pardee Homes master-planned community in San Diego's Carmel Valley. Launched a decade ago, it is a well-established and successful story of thoughtful, sustainable development. Pacific Highlands Ranch offers a diversity of homes, walkable neighborhoods, multi-use trails and a state-of-the art recreation center, woven through permanently protected open space and habitat preserves, and strengthened by indigenous landscaping and water conservation measures.

Pardee's award-winning LivingSmart program for individual homes complements the community's focus on sustainability. At Hampton Lane, LivingSmart delivers more than 30 standards and options geared to advanced energy efficiency, better interior air quality and resource conservation. Standards include low VOC insulation and paint, radiant barrier roof sheathing, engineered wood and water-savings measures. Roof-integrated solar, tankless water heater, low fiber flooring and an LED lighting package are among options.

"Hampton Lane exemplifies the direction we see for move-up homes in California--smaller, smarter, greener homes that also make a comfortable, stylish statement of superior design quality," said Mike McGee, president and CEO of Pardee Homes. "Hampton Lane is the most recent addition to our smart growth commitments at Pacific Highlands Ranch, and we are truly delighted with this recognition by BALA's national panel of judges."

Hampton Lane's location further enhances Pardee's emphasis on convenient, sustainable living. The neighborhood is close to the internal amenities of Pacific Highlands Ranch internal, including its future Village Center. Proximity to highly ranked schools, employment, shopping and San Diego beaches also enhance location advantages.

Like other LivingSmart communities by Pardee Homes, Hampton Lane enjoys solid sales, according to Matt Sauls, Marketing Director for Pardee Homes in San Diego and the Inland Empire. "Buyers today want homes that are high-performance--economical to own and operate, easier to live in and close to schools, work and play," he said. "We call it 'life made easier,' and Hampton Lane is a great example."

Now in its 28th year, BALA recognizes outstanding achievement by builders and design professionals in all sectors of the residential housing industry, with judges representing a cross section of home building's diverse professional disciplines. BALA is affiliated with The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), which stages The International Builders Show (IBS) as its annual conference and exposition.

Pardee Homes is recognized for its superior master-planning concepts, quality homes, responsive customer service and dedication to the educational and civic goals of the communities in which it builds.
