AppwoRx Announces Clinical Photographic Recordkeeping Apps for Smartphones and Tablets

Renowned cardiovascular physician Dr. Ariel Soffer develops technology for vein treatment.

AVENTURA, FL, March 09, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Miami-based AppwoRx has announced an addition to its offering of mHealth products. Clinical Photographic Recordkeeping for Veins, or CPR, is an app that promises to revolutionize the way physicians treat vein disease. The application combines HIPPA compliant cloud technology with a powerful mobile application to create a comprehensive clinical photography software suite built specifically for the vein industry.

According to Dr. Ariel Soffer, the app's creator and head of the Soffer Vein Institute in Aventura Florida, there was clearly a need for streamlining photographic recordkeeping that would make medical practices more efficient. "When I realized there was void in the tech world for this, I decided to develop a system that could work not only for me, but for other doctors, for patients and for administrators," he said. The software has been successfully beta tested at the Soffer Vein Clinic and a number of other vein practices throughout the country. "Feedback from the medical community has been overwhelmingly positive," says Dr. Soffer. The software is now available for distribution to US and international markets.

Photography is essential in the effective treatment of vein disease. Using photos taken before, during and after treatment, physicians can manage patient expectations and visually document the effectiveness of treatment. Doctors can also use these images to assess effectiveness of previous treatments and determine the best course of action for future treatment. Photos are also essential for insurance billing.

CPR For Veins streamlines the process of photographing a patient's vein disease. Clinicians can access a patient's records from their mobile device, and review previous images of treatment areas and treatment notes. When taking a new image, the previous image can be viewed simultaneously while taking a new picture. This allows the user to take consistent photographs every time. Photos are then stored to the cloud where they can be accessed later from the mobile application or web interface.

AppwoRx has also created a consumer facing mobile application for patients to download and install on their mobile device. This app allows patients to submit photos to their doctor and ask questions about treatments, progress or side effects. Patients can also access post-procedure care instructions, FAQs, directions and office hours and contact information through the consumer app. Doctors may communicate and interact with their patients directly through the app, allowing them to quickly inform if their submitted photos are normal or if they should come into the office. The submitted photos can be used to diagnose problems, alleviate patients' fears or as an ongoing record of a patient's treatment or recovery.

The consumer application also allows perspective new patients to submit photos of their vein disease for review. This feature has proven to be an effective lead generation tool. Individual practices can customize the app with their logo and contact information, and the application is compatible with both iPhone and Android smartphones and tablets.

The CPR Web interface is a powerful tool for managing photography. Users will also find a variety of tools to help them integrate photographs into their EMR system. The report generation tool allows clinicians to create branded and customized reports for marketing, expectation management, and insurance use. Users can also use preset photo filters created specifically for vein photography. These filters can be used for color correction, or to highlight hard to see veins.

CPR's cloud-based software is 100% HIPAA compliant, meeting and exceeding government security standards for data transmission and storage. Electronic data is protected against unauthorized retrieval with 256-bit SSL file encryption - twice the level mandated by the government. Information is stored in maximum-security data centers in multiple locations, maintained with the highest security standards. CPR also utilizes a role-based security system, which gives users different levels of access based on their role within an organization.

For a limited time, AppwoRx is offering a free 30 Day trial of the CPR for Veins software. Medical professionals wishing to try CPR may sign up at: http://www.myappworx.com/products.html.
