South Dennis Dentist Raises Money for Cancer Research

Dr. Michael Bittrich, cosmetic dentist serving Dennis, Yarmouth and Hyannis, has once again agreed to ride in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge to raise money for cancer research.

SOUTH DENNIS, MA, March 14, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- South Dennis dentist Dr. Michael Bittrich's service to the community does not stop with his dental practice. For the fifth year in a row, he is riding his bike in the Pan Massachusetts Challenge to raise money for cancer research and treatment on Aug. 4 and 5th, 2012.

Last year the event raised $35 million and the Dennis dentist and his "Miles for Mary" team were able to raise more than 55 thousand dollars. The money raised from the event is donated to the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Both organizations strive to both provide expert cancer treatment to patients and further cancer research to help save lives in the future.

"It is important to me to be able to give back and help fight the terrible disease of cancer. Through my dental practice in Dennis, Hyannis, Yarmouth and the surrounding area, I have spent a large amount of time meeting people in the community. Cancer directly or indirectly affects us all and I want to do all I can to help fight the disease here in our community and everywhere," said Dr. Bittrich, Dennis cosmetic dentist.

Each team participating in the event gathers individual donations to help reach their fundraising goal. Depending on the route an individual or team chooses, the minimum fundraising commitment can range from $500 to $4,300. Those riders that donate a minimum of $6,600 are classified as Heavy Hitters and are specially recognized in the PMC yearbook at the end of the year.

Riders, including Hyannis, MA dentist, Dr. Bittrich, have the option of participating in either one or two day routes that range in mileage from 25 to 190 miles depending on rider capability. Levels of minimum donation requirements correspond to the length of the route chosen by the rider or team.

Since it's inception in 1980, the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge has raised more than $338 million for cancer research and treatment. In total, 72,000 riders have completed the race while more than 42,000 have volunteered their time to the event.

In addition to offering help to the community through his work with the PMC, Yarmouth dentist, Dr. Bittrich, has been offering dental services to his community for 26 consecutive years.
