Google Algorithm Curbing "Over-Optimization"

Details of the Google algorithm update affecting SEO remain a mystery. The risk of dropped rankings has created a stir in the industry, but Cardinal Web Solutions in Atlanta praises Google's recognition of quality content.

ATLANTA, GA, April 05, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In early March, Google's head of search spam, Matt Cutts, announced a release of an algorithm update to target sites with excessive SEO. Since that time, there has been some ambiguity as to when this algorithm will be released and how it will affect rankings.

Since the announcement, there have been some random online complaints that site owners have experienced sudden, unexplained ranking drops. Some of these reports claim considerable drops in ranking, although Mr. Cutts has claimed in his blog that this update is not very large.

At this point, the update does not seem to be affecting sites that are not excessively keyword heavy. Similar to the Panda update of 2011, Google's larger objective seems to be rewarding those sites with high quality, useful content and penalizing those that are using spam techniques with the goal of garnering search rankings.

Alex Membrillo, co-founder of Cardinal Web Solutions, states, "SEO companies that have made a point of creating quality content and using 'white-hat' SEO techniques seem to be unaffected by the changes. Regardless of any changes Google may make now or in the future, quality content and ethics should be the focus of any internet marketing firm."

Having been established in the SEO industry for years, Cardinal Web Solutions is in a unique position among Atlanta SEO companies to observe the gradual evolution of Google's changes to its algorithm. Even in the "Wild West" days of SEO, when questionable practices could yield impressive results, Cardinal Web Solutions has always made a point of achieving high rankings for clients using only ethical techniques, a practice which has continued to benefit the company's clients with the recent changes.

While specific details of this update to the algorithm have not been confirmed, it is likely that indications of the update will only be seen when/if rankings drop. Whether we will hear more from Google on this subject is unknown. The one certainty is that Google will continue to evolve and if that means rewarding quality content with higher search rankings, then all internet users will benefit.
