Carolina Consulting Supports Government Target of Achieving 90% Superfast Broadband Coverage by 2015

Carolina Consulting are specialists in outsourced sales and marketing and are currently developing a customer recruitment campaign for one of the UK's leading home phone and broadband providers.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, May 16, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The government has stated that every community in the UK will gain access to super-fast broadband by 2015. A recent study by the industry regulator Ofcom revealed that fewer than 1% of UK homes have a super-fast broadband connection, which by definition is considered to be at least 24Mbps. Government ministers say they aim for the UK to have Europe's leading broadband network.

Carolina Consulting's Manager Jack Bertok comments that "the Internet is a vitally important service that many individuals and organisations are dependent upon. Schools, businesses and emergency services all use the internet and the more that can be done to increase speed and coverage, the better."

Carolina Consulting reveals the strategy, according to the government, is relatively simple: to deliver a fibre point in every community in the UK. It will then be the responsibility of the communities and local operators to extend the network to individual homes and businesses.

"The roll out should help to create more jobs across the UK, I read a report recently from the London School of Economics that said a rise in broadband penetration of 10% can lead to a 0.9%-1.5% boost in GDP per capita. A project that seems like a very worthwhile investment in my opinion" explains Jack Bertok, Carolina Consulting's Manager.

According to Point Topic, a broadband research company have stated that the UK is spending a significant amount on broadband compared with other European countries.

Carolina Consulting explains the UK comes 17th in a global ranking of broadband penetration - the number of broadband lines per 100 population - according to Point Topic research. It says the UK's figure of 34.75% at the end of 2011 is behind neighbours including France, Belgium and The Netherlands, but just ahead of Germany, Canada and the US.

But the UK ranks 31st in terms of the penetration of fibre-based services, a technology used to provide "superfast" services. Carolina Consulting's MD Jack Bertok says that a project of this scale will provide a lot of business for telecoms companies. "there is so much going on in telecoms at the moment and we're excited to be part of it, our goal is to continue to support our telecoms client and them improve their market share well up to an beyond 2015".
