COL James C. Cummings, DVM, Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Veterinary Surgery

Dr. Cummings earned a Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine from Louisiana State University



    /24-7PressRelease/ -- ALPINE, CA, June 5, 2012, COL James C. Cummings, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in veterinary surgery.

When he received his first puppy at the age of four, Dr. Cummings knew where his career path would lead him. In 1987, he made his childhood dream a reality when he became the recipient of a Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine degree from Louisiana State University. With 27 years of experience as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, he has proven that one can determine their career early on. He has used his expertise in orthopedics during his daily responsibilities, including the teaching and training of junior veterinary corps officers.

Dr. Cummings has a long history of distinguishing achievements. In 1976, the bicentennial years, he was named an Eagle Scout by President Gerald Ford. He joined the U.S. Army in 1979, and was awarded an R.O.T.C. scholarship for Louisiana State University. He was presented with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1987. He then went on active duty with the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps. In 2006, he was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq.

Shortly after returning from Iraq, he was promoted to 5th dan (Shidoshi) in Bujinkan Martial Arts by Grand Master Masaaki Hatsumi. He was promoted to 10th dan (Shihan) in 2011.
Dr. Cummings is a 32nd degree Master Mason K.O.C.C.H., and a member of the Shriners Hospital for Children. He has also been a scuba instructor for the Professional Association of Diving Instructors for 22 years.

His plans for the future are to continue to help, teach and support junior officers in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, and spend more time with his family.
