CINCINNATI, OH, July 28, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- It's never been done before... and it may leave you breathless...but on September 22, the USA's first-ever fireworks' competition will rock the night sky over Cincinnati's historic Coney Island Amusement Park in the inaugural "Fire Up The Night" international fireworks' challenge, presented by Dr. Pepper.

The event will pit the USA vs. Canada and Mexico in a best-of-the-best fireworks' extravaganza for international bragging rights. The aerial barrage will begin around 9 p.m. and is being produced by Cincinnati-based fireworks' legend Rozzi Famous Fireworks, headquartered in Loveland, Ohio.

Spectacular Palm bursts, spiders, whizzers, screechers, brocades and splitting comets - and much more - will fire up the night over Coney Island, with a 5-judge panel and the public evaluating the presentations and selecting a winner. Each show will be judged on such things as presentation, structure and scale, colors, originality and music synchronization.

Competitors in the world-class event will be: Alonzo Fireworks (Mechanicville, New York, USA), Sirius Pyrotechnics (Quebec, Canada) and Lux Pirotecnia (Mexico City, Mexico).

And, following the international competition, Rozzi Famous Fireworks will fire up the night in a thundering finale not to be missed.

Admission for the event is only $20 a carload and includes parking, Coney's classic rides, live stage entertainment, and more. Park gates open at 5 p.m.

"This will be the first-ever head-to-head fireworks' competition - national or international -- held in the USA," said Coney Island's Vic Nolting, the amusement park's vice president and general manager. "We anticipate a show not to be forgotten, and one of the neatest events in Coney's long history."

Coney Island is used to creating lasting memories...the classic amusement park along the banks of the Ohio River has been entertaining families for the past 126 years with 75 beautifully landscaped acres, the 12-acre Lake Como, massive Sunlite Pool with water slides, picnic area and cabanas, 24 family rides, an18-hole miniature golf course, trampoline bungee jumping, games, a pint-size mining town, classic Moonlite Gardens and three new live stage shows.
