The Die is Cast: Handel's Julius Caesar Set to Knock Out London, Announces LondonTown.com

The English National Opera performs one of history's most spellbinding stories.

LONDON, ENGLAND, September 27, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Audiences are set to gasp as Pompey's corpse lies splattered on the stage - just one scene from world famous Handel's operatic portrayal of history's beloved Roman Emperor, Julius Caesar. First staged in 1979, this new production of a classic story returns to London care of the English National Opera. Full details, including tickets, seating and booking hotels in London can be found on LondonTown.com.

Directing this new production of Julius Caesar is world famous choreographer, Michael Keegan-Dolan. Returning to the English National Opera with his own Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, Keegan-Dolan's production will be the first time Handel's interpretation has been performed in over 30 years. Keegan-Dolan, master of production and casting, has assembled a fine collection of singers, to be led by American countertenor Lawrence Zazzo. Zazzo plays protagonist Caesar himself and is joined by Chicago-born singer Anna Christy who portrays love interest and history's most infamous Egyptian, Queen Cleopatra. Expert in all things baroque, and with a penchant for the Classics (previous ENO credits include story of worthy twins Castor and Pollux), Christian Curnyn conducts.

Audiences should expect the unexpected with the Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre's previous performances being notably controversial - but nevertheless brilliant.

The London Coliseum provides a truly apt setting for the staging of this classic opera. This magnificent building allows for high drama, enabling sounds to soar and emotions to run high.

For those travelling into London there are plenty of hotels in London near the London Coliseum within convenient proximity to the show. With the nearest underground stations being Leicester Square and Charing Cross, LondonTown.com advise staying in either the Guoman Hotel (Strand), the Radisson Blu (Trafalgar Square) or the Royal Trafalgar Hotel (Trafalgar Square).
