David Navazio Announces "Wound Accountability Program" for Insurance Companies

New wound care system delivers improved care, accountability and lower costs mandated by Obamacare.

BRISTOL, PA, November 08, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gentell, Inc. (www.gentell.com), a leading manufacturer of wound and skin care products, has announced its Wound Accountability Program for insurance companies that are seeking to improve healthcare under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as "Obamacare."

"This is a time of great innovation in health care," says Gentell Executive Vice President David Navazio. "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act aligns the national interest in reducing medical expenses with patients' interest in better care by providing incentives to insurance companies that contract to improve patient care. Maintaining the healthcare status quo is no longer an option: new approaches such as Gentell's Wound Accountability Program, which has reduced wounds in nursing homes by up to 40% in 90 days, are now in demand."

The Gentell Wound Accountability Program starts with a wireless wound tracking system built into Gentell's proprietary Fastcare software, a secure cloud-based system that can be accessed by tablet computers. Nurses gather key information about each wound, which is tabulated to produce a PUSH (Pressure Ulcer Scale for Healing) score that can be charted to display wound progress. Facilities also benefit from collecting wound data because they can generate government-mandated reports at the touch of a button, thus saving nursing time that would have been spent tabulating spreadsheets.

Gentell's wound care nurses are a major component of Gentell's Wound Accountability Program, regularly visiting facilities to provide hands-on training in state-of-the-art healing methods. This training is also available in PowerPoint, video and PDF formats through the password-protected Training Section at www.gentell.com. Gentell wound specialists also help to assess wounds and can recommend treatments through the Fastcare system.

"It may seem as if our superior products are an afterthought in the Wound Accountability Program," says David Navazio, "but, while every Gentell product has been designed to meet the exacting requirements of our customers, all wound care products work best when applied in a systemic approach that reaches beyond Gentell dressings. For instance, Gentell nurses train clients to adjust beds to patient weights, which can reduce wounds and, paradoxically, the need for our dressings."

Gentell leads the wound care industry in telemedicine, which enables patients in remote areas to receive improved care by using the Fastcare tablet for imaging or to hold a teleconference at any time of day with a Gentell wound specialist. "Speed is important in wound care," notes Navazio, "especially for problematic wounds. We now have the technology to help improve wound healing rates almost anywhere."

The Gentell Wound Accountability Program and Gentell's proven ability to provide measurable results, reduce wound care costs and bring wound expertise to remote areas is also helping insurance companies reduce costs and hold down premiums as mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

About Gentell
Gentell wound and skin care products help heal and prevent wounds in nursing homes, hospitals, wound care centers and, through home health care providers, in patients' homes. Gentell customers share three common problems: 1. Lingering, undocumented outcomes, 2. Confusion caused by the thousands of wound care products being offered and the plethora of new technologies, and 3. Increased costs as Medicare benefits are cut, corporations reduce staff and health care organizations look to reduce costs while improving or maintaining their level of patient care. The Gentell Wound Advisor, Gentell Fastcare Wound Documentation System, and other Gentell products and services help solve these problems by providing electronic documentation, quick access to information and reduced costs. The best way to heal a wound is to address it quickly and to pay attention to it. Gentell's tagline is, "We make it better." We heal wounds, and we make better wound-healing products.
