/24-7PressRelease/ - PROVIDENCE, RI, September 23, 2007 - The new Renaissance Providence Hotel has opened the first ArtTix satellite visitor's center, an innovative new amenity that will offer guests unique and extensive access to the arts and culture in the area. The center is the first of its kind placed in a hotel lobby and will serve to connect the New England hotel visitors with more than 70 area arts and cultural venues and events.

"The Renaissance Providence Hotel is visionary for doing this," said Peter Bramante, executive director of the Arts & Business Council, a service organization dedicated to building Rhode Island's cultural enterprises and operator of the ArtTix service. "This is an important way to strengthen Rhode Island's reputation as a cultural destination. We are very pleased that the Providence hotel is focused on connecting visitors with our cultural community."

Visitors can use the ArtTix terminal located in the hotel's center on a self-serve basis to purchase tickets to concerts and events and to search a database of free events. Searches can be organized by date, organization, or by discipline, making a connection between a visitor and his or her interests easier. The ArtTix visitors Center also provides free maps and restaurant guides and offers merchandise such as original artist designed tote bags, aprons, art cards, and other Rhode Island art-related items, all created locally. Hotel staff may also make reservations through ArtTix for guests during, or in advance of their stay in Providence.

"This is another wonderful and unique amenity at this artistic hotel," said Angelo De Peri, general manger of the Renaissance Providence Hotel. "Visitors can learn about and patronize dozens of events and galleries, from the very big and established to the small and innovative. ArtTix links them all and makes them all readily available."

Of the many arts and cultural organizations listed on the Providence, RI hotel's ArtTix visitor center are: Festival Ballet Providence; Feinstein IMAX Theatre Providence Mall; Firstworks; Gallery Night Providence, Gamm Theatre; Latin American Film Festival; Opera Providence; Perishable Theatre; Providence Performing Arts Center; Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra; Trinity Repertory Theatre; and Waterfire.

Developer Sage Hospitality Resources invested $100 million in the Renaissance Providence Hotel, representing the most ambitious historic restoration ever undertaken in the history of Rhode Island. The 1928 building, which was to have been the Masonic Temple had construction been completed, was listed on the National Register of historic places in 1993 in recognition of its status as a masterpiece of Neo-Classical architecture. The primary historic facades of the building have been fully retained and meticulously restored, while the interior has been transformed with the modern elegance and state-of-the-art technology demanded by today's top-tier hotel guests and event planners.

The hotel in Providence, RI features 272 guest-rooms, 10,000 square feet of state-of-the art meeting space, an independent freestanding destination restaurant and lounge, fitness center and a 49-room club level as well as a dramatic theater-like lobby with stunning views of the neighboring Rhode Island State House. A nine-story addition, mirroring the Neo-Classical style of the hotel houses guest rooms and the conference/ballroom space and links the hotel with the VMA Arts and Cultural Center, home to the Rhode Island Philharmonic, Festival Ballet, and Opera Providence. Hotel doors opened in June.

For those in the know, the Renaissance Providence Hotel promises to be the place to meet, dine, stay, and experience the arts of Providence. For more information, visit www.renaissanceprovidence.com.
