Aphronze Architects Designs the Wanbo Shopping Center in Guangzhou China for Jiachuang Group

(www.Aphronze.com) has been selected by the Jiachuang Group to design the Wanbo underground commercial development project. The project is located in the Panyu urban district of the southern end of Guangzhou in China, known as the Pearl River Delta.

The Location

Guangzhou (www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guangzhou) is one of the five central cities in China, which has an international commercial trading center, foreign affairs center, transportation center, as well as, Southern international shipping center. Wanbo Central Business District (CBD) is located in the second-tier urban district of Panyu, a new urban district, at the southern end of the Guangzhou new urban area. The development of Wanbo CBD is expected to become the "Fourth Commercial Core" following the Beijing Road, Shangxiajiu, and Teemall commercial cores in Guangzhou.

The Space

The Wanbo CBD underground commercial development project in Guangzhou, China comprises 4 levels, which include an underground transportation system (1,375,800 square meters), underground municipal facilities (30,500 square meters), and underground commercial space (304,800 square meters). Wanbo underground commercial space is in the middle of Wanbo CBD, underneath Hanxi Avenue and Wanbo Avenue. The total length of the West-East path is about 780 meters with a width of about 80 meters, and the total length of the North-South path is about 630 meters with a width of about 40 meters. The two paths are intersected in a cross shape.

With the huge advantages of combining the underground transportation system with the underground commercial space and the convenience of future extensions which connect with city highways, train stations, and airports, the Wanbo underground commercial space will certainly become a paradise for shopping, family trips, and weekend visits in the Pearl River Delta, Zhusanjiao.

The Architecture

Aphronze Architects, an architectural design firm located in the UK, Taiwan and China, will design the Wanbo shopping center in the western styles of Broadway, London Garden, Champs Elysee, and Rodeo Drive. It will contain shopping streets, a high-end supermarket, high fashion department stores, a modern IMAX Cinema, amusement centers, gyms, clubs, spa, banking, a playground, and sports fields, including a skating rink. The facility will include plazas, sky bridges, sky decks, sky lights, gardens, fountains, sculptures and canals.

Green Sustainable Design

The green technology architectural design features sustainable design, energy conservation, good environmental utility, renewable energy, and green technological innovation. The project will be composed of green building materials, including: reclaimed concrete, recycled bricks, and smart glass "electrified" skylights.

Strong Use of Space Syntax

Aphronze uses the design methodology known as "space syntax" which for this particular project consists of segmenting well-designed commercial spatial layouts to help circulate customers.
