Renewable Energy Boost for Households with GroundTherm Ltd

Energy conscious homes across England, Scotland and Wales have gained a huge incentive to carry on conserving following an extension to the Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, May 31, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A Phase Two extension has recently been announced by the Department of Energy and Climate Change meaning households can now receive financial assistance through the Renewable Heat Premium Payment - a one-off grant to help towards the costs of installing renewable technologies in homes - until the end of March 2014.

In further good news, in line with key changes to the householder stream, the Department of Energy and Climate Change has increased the voucher levels for each of the four eligible technologies after considering new data available on installation costs and recent feedback from industry.

As such, the new levels are:

Air-to-Water Heat Pump (GBP1,300 - was GBP850)
Biomass Boiler (GBP2,000 - was GBP950)
Ground or Water-source Heat Pump (GBP2,300 - was GBP1,250)
Solar Thermal Hot Water (GBP600 - was GBP300)

In response to the increase in voucher levels, a spokesperson from GroundTherm - a specialist provider of renewable heating solutions - said: "This is fantastic news for the home owner and a great move by the government. Clearly, we are strong advocates of renewable energy and the many cost-related and environmental benefits associated with it, so if this encourages more people to pursue renewable solutions then it can only be a good thing.

"The fact that the RHPP has been extended too shows that this government is taking renewable energy very seriously and sends a positive message out to all those considering installing renewable energy in their homes."

These new voucher levels will apply to voucher applications made on the Energy Saving Trust (EST) website, and in addition, new applicants will be required to undertake a Green Deal Assessment before submitting a claim for payment of their voucher. This assessment will help to determine the most appropriate new technology for a consumer's home and circumstances.
