Chester G. Lees Named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Art

Ms. Lees has created a colorful and successful career



    CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA, June 2, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ --Chester G. Lees, Chief Executive Officer of Chester Arts Studio, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

Ms. Lees has over 25 years of experience in the field with an expertise in painting and water color. In addition to being an artist, she is also an educator and motivational speaker. She conducts workshops for the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts, the Telus World of Science Creative Kids Museum and the Glenbow Museum. She has held many art residencies in many Calgary Board of Education and Charter Schools.

Ms. Lees continues to offer residencies in which a wide range of media are used for teaching core curriculum subjects. She has an established arts education program teaching all subjects through arts, painting, graphic arts and other mediums. She has led many team building workshops through the Epcor Centre, and for seven years, led art retreats at the King's Fold Retreat Centre in Cochrane. These workshops energize the team and enable them to return to their workplace able to think more expansively and collaboratively together.

Ms. Lees has held numerous exhibitions in Britain, Hong Kong, Germany and Canada, including a solo show at the Medicine Hat Museum and Art Gallery. More recently, she has completed large murals at Grant McEwan, Glenbrook; Riverbend, Belfast; and Hawkwood Elementary schools. Her work is included in the collections of many institutions, including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Canadian Defense Research Establishment at Suffield, the Bank of America in Hong Kong, and in private collections around the world. Her work can be viewed at "Swirl" Gallery at Art Central, Calgary.

For many years now Ms. Lees has enjoyed pursuing her artistic career both as a painter and gallery owner. More recently, she has been involved in teaching core curriculum subjects using the fine arts, which she finds very satisfying, and that provides the school residency programs: arts-integrated visual art workshops in various arts learning programs. These programs are targeted for different age groups and demographics including, students from grades K-12, teachers, sponsors and other professionals. They teach all subject matters through art media.

She credits hard work, talent and the ability to help children who do not fall into the standard teaching methods as the keys to her success. She has always loved the arts and it became a passion for her while she was still in high school. She expects continued expansion and growth as a painter, with international exhibitions.

Ms. Lees is a member of the Alberta Society of the Artists, and the Calgary Arts Partnership in Education Society since 1997. She won the Woman of Vision Global Television Award for the Woman of Vision in the Arts Sector, and was nominated for the Mayor's Award for Arts & Business in 2009. She does charity work for the Epcor Centre. Her hobbies include traveling and art work.
