Accounting Technicians Ireland Annual Dinner 2013 - Celebrating 30 Years in Business

Accounting Technicians Ireland held its annual dinner in the Knockranny House Hotel, Westport, Co. Mayo, on Friday 17th May.



    DUBLIN, IRELAND, June 07, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Accounting Technicians Ireland held its annual dinner in the Knockranny House Hotel, Westport, Co. Mayo, on Friday 17th May. The event celebrated the 30th anniversary of the professional body and was attended by leaders from the world of accountancy and business.

The keynote speaker was leading Irish entrepreneur Dr. John Teeling who gave a synopsis on the landscape for business in Ireland - both past, present and future. Dr. Teeling compared the Ireland of 30 years ago with today, noting the various parallels and differences. Tying into the foundation year of the accountancy body, he shared that 1983 also held special significance for him as it marked the beginning of a number of his commercial ventures.

The former head of Cooley Distillery outlined how the next 30 years hold huge potential for Ireland. He gave an encyclopaedic review of global demographics noting the opportunities of an exploding 'middle class' which is set to grow by 2 billion, and observed that Ireland is uniquely positioned to service this new market through our advantages in agribusiness, education and tourism.

Entertaining the crowd with personal anecdotes, Dr. Teeling said that he was in his late 30's by the time he started is first business and advocated lifelong learning for all. Success lies through education and in a fast changing world, knowledge is power. Education equips you to cope with change and uncertainty and we, as contributors need to continually update our skill sets - not only in technical areas but also in strategic thinking and management. Interrupted by warm bursts of applause, he finished his inspirational address stating that it is never too late to realise your ambitions.

The night concluded with entertainment from Connor McKeon & The Legends of Swing, wrapping up a fantastic celebration of Accounting Technicians Ireland's 30 years in business.
