Les Ruhrmund Named a Worldwide Who's Who Executive of the Year for Excellence in Direct Selling

    CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, June 7, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Les Ruhrmund, Chief Executive Officer of Pres Les, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Executive of the Year in Direct Selling. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Pres Les is a direct selling company that sells prestigious products for the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and fine dining. The range includes top-end quality bedroom textiles, cutlery, crockery, table linen and towels.The credo of the Direct Selling Association in South Africa (DSA) is "Building the nation through income creation" and over the past 40 years Pres Les has provided opportunities to many thousands of previously disadvantaged South Africans to earn addition income enabling them to build their homes, educate their children, travel and uplift their lifestyles. There are currently 14,000 Pres Les Sales Consultants of which the vast majority are Black Women.

Mr. Ruhrmund has 40 years of experience in the industry, with 22 years in his current role. His areas of expertise include product design, brand management , strategic marketing and business strategy.

Serving as the chairman of the board and chief executive officer, Mr Ruhrmund believes his prime role is that of a sounding board for his executives and providing leadership in creating the strategic vision for the company. He is personally involved in the company's social outreach programs which are aimed primarily at children's education and welfare in the poorer communities in Cape Town.

Mr. Ruhrmund spent three years studying theology and is an ordained clergyman in the Roman Catholic Church. He is a keen cyclist who has done 14 Argus Cycle Tours in South Africa. He is also a keen hiker and climbed Mt Kilimanjaro with his son in 2010.

He attributes his success to passion, hard work, commitment, vision, wide range of reading and travel, the ability to listen carefully and working with a team of people who share values of integrity, compassion and trust. He became involved in his profession while studying textile engineering. He started designing textile products for the bedroom which were suited to direct selling and had the opportunity to learn marketing and business leadership through extensive international travel and excellent role models and mentors. He completed the Executive Management Program at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town in 1988 and credits the program as an important mile stone in his executive career.

Mr. Ruhrmund served as a director on the board of the DSA for sixteen years and in 2012 was admitted to the DSA Hall of Fame. He has received from Lions Club, the Loius Volks Award for distinguished service to the benefit of the community (sponsoring events to raise funds for cataract operations in very poor communities). He currently serves as chairman of Nazareth House in Cape Town which provides a home for indigent elderly people and severely disabled children and babies.

Mr. Ruhrmund's priority over the next few years is to groom new leaders in the business who can take the company to new heights of success. Pres Les is a well respected brand in the fast growing middle class market in South Africa and he believes there are huge opportunities awaiting the leadershipship of his successors.
