Red Ten NYC: Graduate Jobs at All Time Low According to CNN Money

New York-based outsourced sales and marketing firm Red Ten NYC report of the unemployment rates in young people and advise graduates to consider alternatives to the traditional options after college like entrepreneurship.

NEW YORK, NY, June 13, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Red Ten NYC reports that the unemployment rate of under-30s who graduated since October 2011 is at 11.3%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Monthly Labor Review this February. A further 6.9% are classified as neither in education or in the labor force. The New York sales and marketing firm advises graduates to consider alternative career options to the traditional graduate job.

CNN Money reveals that unemployment figures may be much higher than previously reported. April reports of the drop in unemployment rates to 7.6%, the lowest since 2008, were revealed by CNN to be due to the reduction of people classified as 'actively seeking work' rather than an actual increase in job creation. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that including people who have dropped out of the labor market would increase unemployment statistics to 9.8%.

Red Ten NYC is a strong advocate of entrepreneurship and start-up business and suggests graduates and present college students should re-evaluate their post-graduation career plans. Red Ten NYC recommends that colleges focus on developing entrepreneurship mentality and skills amongst their students. "College is supposed to be about developing independent thinkers, so setting up businesses is the next logical step. With the right level of information and a support system in place, entrepreneurship should be a realistic goal for many graduates," said a source from Red Ten NYC.
