BIOVIDEO Helps Hospitals Connect With Young Families in a Whole New Way

While many companies courted nursing execs at the AWHONN Nurses conference in Nashville, one company broke the rules by gifting a breathtaking movie to every new parent.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, July 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nearly 3,000 leading maternity nurses and directors of hospital women's services descended upon Nashville for the 23rd annual conference of the Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).

They came from all 50 states and Canada to learn of cutting edge practices in Women's Health, attracted by prestigious speakers, valuable workshops, presentation of newly-released research and the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Credits to maintain needed certifications to practice nursing.

And with them came scores of vendors from almost 200 companies to sell them everything from hospital beds and baby formula to RFID wristbands aimed at preventing infant kidnapping.

But one company exhibiting for the first time at this conference was not selling anything. Rather, it was offering its services for free to both hospitals and patients - unheard of in the industry.

Newcomer BIOVIDEO has more than 8 years experience providing its novel service to leading hospitals. Their staff of videographers work inside the maternity ward to film the most heartwarming moments of each new baby's first day of life and then transform them into a priceless movie, which is presented to the new parents before they leave the hospital. What makes the concept truly remarkable is that the service is free to both hospitals and the patients.

BIOVIDEO is the brainchild of Carlos Villasenor, a frustrated first time dad who struggled to capture every moment of his first daughter's birth 8 years ago. "I was a nervous wreck, worrying about charging the camera, changing memory cards, and trying to preserve every priceless moment on film." When he decided to edit the clips into a movie as a gift for family and friends that Christmas, he realized that he wasn't in the film, as he had been behind the camera instead of beside his wife Sylvia during many heartwarming moments. "I made up my mind then and there that I'd never have to choose between holding my wife's hand and holding the camera. No dad should have to make that choice."

He founded BIOVIDEO in Monterrey Mexico the next year, and today the company serves over 90% of private hospitals in Monterrey, Mexico City and Guadalajara. A few years later, Carlos moved his family, then with 3 young daughters, to San Antonio to expand the BIOVIDEO vision to US families and hospitals.

And to answer the question on everyone's mind, Villasenor explains, "We capture the Hallmark moments and not the Natural Geographic moments." The company starts filming immediately after birth, starting when the baby is weighed and foot printed, and then captures many emotional moments with the parents, family and friends meeting the baby for the first time.

BIOVIDEO has filmed and edited more than 150,000 custom videos since the company was founded in 2006. While this level of production volume appears a mindboggling challenge, BIOVIDEO does it with yet another near impossible hurdle - each movie is presented in person to the family before they take the newborn baby home, generally 24 to 48 hours after birth.

BIOVIDEO has taken advantage of the technology shift to transform the industry by providing the breathtaking video it produces free of charge. This has allowed all new parents in participating hospitals to cherish those special moments on film, and share them instantly right from the new mom's hospital bed.

"While other companies have to push for sales, BIOVIDEO focuses on delighting new parents instead, confident that the gratitude we earn by presenting such a cherished gift will form a long-term relationship with new parents."

So how can such a valuable gift be free to both the hospitals and the parents? Villasenor explained, "Babies don't come into the world with an instruction manual. So I sought out the experts in the field of child care, and partnered with them to bring their insights and expertise to new parents. Leading brands such as Pampers and Little Remedies sponsor the production of the videos, and at the same time provide valuable information and product samples to new parents to help them when they arrive home with the new baby."

"It's a WIN - WIN - WIN situation, where everyone receives more than they expect," said Villasenor. "Parents are overwhelmed by the quality of the video we deliver. The hospitals provide a priceless gift to their patients which showcases the best experience anyone will ever have with a medical institution. And the brand sponsors value the access to new parents at the precise moment they need their products and expertise - in the hospital right after baby is born."

"We've been producing priceless movies in 2 countries since my daughter Mariana's birth 8 years ago, and we are now poised to expand rapidly throughout the country", said Villasenor. "That's why we are in Nashville for this conference; to share the BIOVIDEO story with progressive hospitals who are seeking unique ways to delight their patients - for free."

The US is about to experience more tears of joy as BIOVIDEO rolls out its complimentary services to cover more hospitals and births across the country. "Retailers will need to stock up on facial tissues to handle the flood of tears that are on their way," laughs Villasenor. He should know; he has 3 BIOVIDEOs of his own to watch with 3 growing daughters ages 5 to 8.
