Michael Wolfgang Weaver Authors New Metaphysical Adventure: Coyote Man

Novelist and screenwriter Michael Wolfgang Weaver adds a new dimension to the Hero's Journey cycle with this tale of transformation and redemption set in magical northern New Mexico.

SANTA FE, NM, August 20, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment, and from enigmatic and ancient ruins like Chaco and Bandelier, to the more recent mystery of Roswell, this nickname is well deserved. And nowhere in the state is this enchantment more keenly felt than in the north, with its soul-stirring Sangre de Cristo Range, its soaring and sacred Taos Mountain, its mind-bending vistas of Rio Grand Gorge. Northern New Mexico is a land that speaks of transformation, offering wisdom, both mundane and arcane. And to those who have a difficult time opening to such wisdom, this land will often provide the harsh but necessary lessons in alteration. This is the land of Coyote Man.

"I've been a resident of northern New Mexico for many years, and I've made the drive from Santa Fe to Taos countless times. That section of the trip where Highway 68 runs along the Rio Grande through the gorge always feels like a journey unto itself. It's like traveling back in time, maybe a hundred years, maybe a million. It's like entering another world, with doorways, thresholds, at each end. The layout of the canyon evoked the Hero's Journey. And it occurred to me that a person might take such a journey more than once, perhaps countless times." - MWW, on Coyote Man.

Our Hero is at the lowest point in his life, homeless and hitchhiking, stranded at the threshold of Taos Gorge in northern New Mexico. When he's picked up by an enigmatic, possibly insane Mountain Man who calls himself Bonneville, he is thrust unceremoniously into his very own Vision Quest. Unable to leave the canyon, and pursued by a ghostly bounty hunter he calls Coyote Man, Our Hero must confront his beliefs, fears and delusions to free himself and, in the end, learns the secret to life itself.

"I share with my friend Michael Wolfgang Weaver an abiding love of mythic story telling and spiritual striving. With "Coyote Man" the classic hero's journey grinds gears with the gritty reality of 21st Century America in a 1969 Winnebago. The result is a primer on transcending the fear and self-inflicted wounds that needlessly shackle us. Through the struggle for transformation of a haunted, stranded hitchhiker in Northern New Mexico, Weaver inspires us to ask ourselves: "What are you waiting for?" Part Carlos Castaneda, part Robert Bloch, one reads the last page of "Coyote Man" and feels braver and bolder for having done so." - Mark Ordesky, Producer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Coyote Man is available now as a paperback and as an ebook at Amazon.com.
