The Africa Fashion Week team is gearing up for their annual fashion showcase that will take place during Los Angeles Fashion Week in Downtown Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 04, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles (AFWLA) is pleased to announce that they will be hosting their 2013 runway shows at 525 DTLA. 525 DTLA has hosted many events in the past, including R&B artist Chris Brown's live art show, fashion shows, private parties, corporate receptions, and intimate dinners. The central location, spacious floor plan, and 19 ft high ceilings illuminated by creative architectural lighting were deciding factors in holding the annual runway shows at the venue. AFWLA is scheduled for October 10th -12th 2013 and will kick off with an Afro Pop-Up Shop and opening night mixer. The Pop-Up Shop, that will be held at the Papillion Institute of Art, will allow designers and other local merchants to sell their items to fashion lovers in Downtown Los Angeles.

AFWLA's runway shows will feature an array of diverse talent from several established and emerging designers coming from countries all over the world. The 2013 designer line up will include Maryzo Designs, 2 African Girls, Josefa Dasilva, Yasika Mode, MSC Treasures, Della, David Giampiccalo, Thriftqueened, Bongolicious, Bella Dhiya, Menogu Designs, Tina Summers, and Nile Goddess Designers. In showcasing these amazing designers, AFWLA will connect with local stylists, buyers, and boutique stores as a means to open the door to more opportunities for the talent that will be featured. A limited amount of tickets will be available to the public for purchase on eventbrite.com beginning September 9, 2013.

AFWLA remains committed to its social investment by donating a portion of proceeds from the event their non-profit beneficiary. The Giving Back Charity is a non-profit association whose purpose is to promote education and culture through the implementation of social and educational activities such as involvement in the arts and sports. Their activities, accompanied by high-level tools, are serving youth throughout the world to meet social needs, particularly in disadvantaged areas.

In order to bring more awareness to this cause and the fashion week supporting it, AFWLA will be hosting a pre-marketing event on Friday, September 13, 2013 titled Africa is Rising. The networking social, targeted to young professional and creatives, is free to attend and will feature music, hors d'oeuvres, and a wine bar. This event will be held at the Papillion Institute of Art in Downtown Los Angeles and is scheduled for 6:00pm-11:00pm PST.
