GRAY, GA, September 12, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ --- Dr. Rebecca Gimenez, President and Owner of Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue, Inc. has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in animal technical rescue services.

Dr. Gimenez has 18 years of experience in her profession, with 14 years in her current position with Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue, Inc. (TLAERTM), an organization that provides training courses in the safe extrication of large animals from emergency situations. Scenarios include barn and wild fires, trailer turnovers and mud or ravine entrapments. She structures the company's courses for veterinarians, animal control officers, livestock transporters and others who work with large animals but are not normally affiliated with an emergency response service - to learn side by side with firefighters and professional emergency responders. Her areas of expertise include barn fire and trailer wreck prevention, manipulation of large animals in recumbent situations, and general large animal behavior.

On a day-to-day basis Dr. Gimenez is building an online Awareness TLAERTM course with JPA Associates, and coordinates 12 assistant instructors who assist with Operations and Technician level TLAERTM training events around the country. Rebecca also manages a large FB interest group, writes a blog for THEHORSE.COM and numerous articles for popular media, and serves as the U.S. distributor for the ResquipTM horse mannequin (used for training students).

Dr. Gimenez is a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves stationed at US SOUTHCOM in Miami, Florida. She served a combat tour as a communications officer in Kuwait and Iraq in 2006-2007, of which she is very proud. She is a former member of the American Veterinary Medical Association's Veterinary Medical Assistance Team, and supports numerous efforts to educate disaster response organizations.
Currently, Dr. Gimenez is conducting a national survey of large animal trailer casualties, researching nutrition deficits in cases of horse neglect and investigating the effect of emergency rescue procedures on animals' physiology. She previously was an adjunct professor of biology, immunology and microbiology at Newberry College and Anderson University.

The keys to her professional success, says Dr. Gimenez, have been her outstanding mentors in many walks of life, military training in interpersonal skills and leadership, her determination and her extensive research and development in the field (literally). In the years to come, she hopes to continue to grow TLAER, Inc. and complete a second edition of her textbook Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue, published by Wiley Blackwell.

Dr. Gimenez holds a Ph.D. in Animal Physiology from Clemson University and a bachelor's degree in Biology from Wofford College. Active in the professional community, she is a member of private organizations such as the Philanthropic Education Organization, Reserve Officers Association and the Military Officers Association of America.

When she is not coordinating and teaching technical animal rescue courses, Ms. Gimenez enjoys natural horsemanship riding and caring for horses. For more information about Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue, visit http://www.tlaer.org.
