Every couple of weeks, Dr. Sakhrani will give the patient new aligners. Each set of aligners is shaped differently to account for the changes in a patient's teeth and the goals of the treatment. This is done by using 3D imaging on a computer. The computer configures the precise molds a patient needs using the information learned through dental x-rays. With every upgrade, teeth get a little straighter. The process averages nine months to a year and a half, depending on the needs of the patient. In general, this comes out to an average of 18 to 30 aligners.
