VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, September 26, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Larry A. James, President of Golden Days Radio for Senior Citizens Incorporated, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Broadcasting. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Upon retiring from an illustrious career in banking and tourism, Mr. James was encouraged by a friend to begin listening to Golden Days Radio, a web-streamed radio station which gears its music toward a senior audience. Passionate about music from the 1930s to 1960s genre, Mr. James signed on as a volunteer for the organization. He initially worked as a presenter before transitioning to a role as program manager. A natural leader, Mr. James served as deputy president of Golden Day Radio for Senior Citizens Incorporated for a year before receiving promotion to his current title as president.

Mr. James and approximately 90 other volunteers have unified to run business operations for the radio station. The music of yesteryear is broadcast worldwide at http://www.goldendaysradio.com and offers special programming in jazz and theater. In addition to its "oldies" music, Golden Days Radio for Senior Citizens Incorporated featured light classics, opera, ballads, and musical comedy. Though their target audience is senior citizens and those who lived during the 1930-1960s, it has successfully reached younger generations who also enjoy the music. Golden Days Radio for Senior Citizens Inc. is one of the only web-based radio stations of its kind and, functions out of a newly re-built studio, which cost $400,000, thanks to its volunteer's philanthropic contributions.

In his role as president, Mr. James manages all logistics for the community radio station. An expert in interpersonal communication, he welcomes other volunteers seeking to aid the organization and assists in making them feel as though they are part of the team. In addition to reviewing mail and new programming, Mr. James also hosts a breakfast show every Friday morning. Named as a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Broadcasting, he attributes his success to motivation, an ability to work collaboratively, and industry expertise. In the coming years, he aims to remain steadfast in his position and continue providing exemplary programming for Golden Days Radio. He also seeks to gain new listeners and advertiser through networking and consulting internationally.

Mr. James serves as a volunteer for Puffing Billy Railway. The tourist attraction was built in the year 1899 and the steam train still runs on its original track. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music.
