Norman Solovay will be presenting "Is Binding Mediation an Oxymoron Unless It Is Made Into a Med-Arb?" at the ACR-GNY Annual Conference in June 2013 in New York

NEW YORK, NY, September 27, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Norman Solovay, Founder of and Partner with The Solovay Practice, Mediators + More, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in mediation and arbitration.

Earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cornell University, Mr. Solovay did not initially intend to follow in the footsteps of his lawyer-father. After he was called to duty as a lieutenant in the Korean War by virtue of his ROTC service at Cornell, he was posted to the Psychological Warfare Center at Fort Bragg. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Laws, Mr. Solovay served as a litigation associate with Rosenman Colin firm, and as a law secretary to then Justice Charles D. Breitel, before starting his own law firm. Now possessing more than 50 years of experience in alternative dispute resolution, collaborative law, and mediation, focusing on alternative dispute resolution and mediation, he serves as a partner with The Solovay Practice, Mediators + More, a law firm he founded with his longtime associate, Mark J. Maged.

Named on the National Trial Lawyers list of 100 best New York litigators, Mr. Solovay has written several articles, including "The Future of Collaborative Law," "Why a Uniform Collaborative Law Act," and "Responding to the Call for Alternative Dispute Resolution," He is also co-authored,"The Internet and Dispute Resolution: Untangling the Web," published in 2003, and "Alternative Dispute Resolution," published in 2000. Additionally, he has given dozens of seminars and presentations, his most recent being on the topic of "Med-Arb Is Here to Stay" for the New York State Dispute Resolution Association's 2012 annual conference. Along with Stephen Hochman, Mr. Solovay will be presenting a program titled, "Is Binding Mediation an Oxymoron Unless It Is Made Into a Med-Arb?" at the ACR-GNY Annual Conference on June 20, 2013 in New York.

Mr. Solovay has been admitted to practice in various courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and all New York state courts. He is the founding member of the U.S. Branch of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and a member of New York State Bar Association. Looking forward, he plans to build a new organization independent of a big law firm, because he believes it to be more practical.
