    CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA, January 17, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Australian National University Professor of Immunology Paul A. Gatenby has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in systemic autoimmune diseases.He will continue his association with ANU as an emeritus professor.

With an astounding four decades of practiced experience in his field, Dr. Gatenby is uniquely qualified to manage a wide range of tasks on behalf of Australian National University. Over the course of more than a decade, in his capacity as professor of immunology, he teaches classes for undergraduates and also instructs in the area of immunology for fellows. In addition, he conducts research, collects and analyzes data sets, and sets up clinical trials in immunology.

In 1994, Dr. Gatenby started working for The University of Sydney as foundation associate dean of the Canberra Clinical School. He was appointed to foundation dean of the ANU Medical school in 2002, and held the position for six years. From 2008 until 2012, he was the director of research in ACT Health, where he is responsible for research governance.

Dr. Gatenby excels in his field because of his extensive educational background, which includes a Ph.D. in immunology from The University of Sydney and an MBBS from the University of Tasmania. He has also taken part in four different fellowships on the topics of internal medicine, immunology, immunopathology and medical administration. A certified pathologist, he was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding and is a recipient of Membership in the Order of Australia. Throughout the course of his academic career, he has won many awards, including a Chancellor's Award for his services to the school in 2008. In the near future, Dr. Gatenby plans to be retired, provide part-time consulting services, and continue his research.
