GRANGER, IN, January 23, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Do you feel pressure behind the eyes and cheeks, causing dull headaches? Do you have a runny, stuffy nose with drainage that has a thick, yellow or greenish consistency? These are at least two signs of a sinus infection. One more question-are you completely miserable because you get infections all of the time?

After several bouts with a sinus infection, it's completely understandable to feel frustrated. You may be dealing with chronic sinusitis-an inflammation of the sinuses that lasts three months or more. There are three signs that will tell you if you need to see a specialist.

- Your sinusitis flares up multiple times and doesn't respond to antibiotics, nasal irrigation and decongestants
- Sinusitis symptoms continue for weeks or months
- The nasal infection isn't showing any signs of going away

If this sounds like your situation, it's time to talk to a specialist-an Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) doctor. An ENT specializes in otolaryngology (study of the ear, nose and throat conditions) and works with patients of all ages who suffer from allergies, hearing loss, ear and nasal infections, head and neck cancers and other ENT related issues.

Thus, your chronic sinusitis needs to be handled by an ENT, such as Dr. Campbell at Campbell Ear, Nose & Throat. First, you will need to be referred to an ENT. In Granger, once you undergo an exam of your chronic sinusitis, you may be a candidate for a new method in sinus surgery-balloon sinuplasty. It doesn't call for partial removal of bone and tissue in the nasal passage to enlarge the sinus opening, like a traditional sinus surgery. Balloon sinuplasty is the alternative sinus surgery, minus the cutting.

It involves gently inserting a flexible balloon catheter into the sinus passage, inflating it. Once the passage opens, the catheter is deflated and removed. Thus, the cleared sinuses can drain fluid, flushing out the infection. It's that simple. And this minimally invasive surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, using general anesthesia.

For once, you can breath a sigh of relief. You shouldn't let chronic sinusitis run your life, or more specifically, your nose.

"Chronic sinusitis needs to be nipped in the bud. Our patients in South Bend, Granger and other surrounding areas are spending too much time and money on treatments that aren't working. This problem accounts for $8 billion in annual health care expenses. With the right treatment, we can ease your sinus infection symptoms," states Dr. Campbell, Mishawaka and Granger ENT.

To schedule an exam for an issue related to your sinuses, Granger ENT, Dr. Campbell, can help diagnose and treat your nasal problem. Call (574) 246-1000 or visit their information and comprehensive website at www.campbellent.net. It's time to breathe easy, call today!
