VIENNA, VA, February 05, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Have you ever walked into a building and then walked right back out because it looked like germs were probably crawling all over the place? Since you care about your health and safety, you also want your health care providers to care just as much, actually, even more.

It's important to find a dentist who adheres to all sterilization standards. Drs. Sanati and Shahram take the best precautions to ensure that the waiting room, front desk and exam rooms are spic and span--free of infection and diseases.

"We don't do a 'average' disinfection process. Our practice adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Center for Disease Control standards for sterilization and infection control. Earlier in January, our dental team attended a continuing education course for infection control because we want to improve patient safety," says Dr. Sanati, McLean dentist.

What sterilization standards are set for a dentist office?
Like any health care office, all surfaces in the exam room need to be cleaned, including the dental chair, dental light, countertops and handles. Most of all, the staff will clean the non-disposable dental tools because they come in direct contact with your mouth, gum tissue and teeth. These are the following sterilization and inflectional control procedures Drs. Sanati and Shahram follow:
- Wash hands
- Wear protective gloves, masks, gowns and eyewear
- Throw away disposable items
- Clean and sterilize all non-disposable dental instruments
- Clean surfaces

Drs. Sanati and Shahram surpass CDC infection control standards. Sterilization and infection control are utilized to stop infections and diseases, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV, from being transmitted.
