New in 2013 is the Club edition of the Miata, which replaces the Touring version available in previous years. The Club edition includes the Power-Retractable Hard Top (PRHT), which can open or close in less than 12 seconds, meaning you can keep a sudden shower off your head with the push of a button at a red light. The top stows itself in the same manner as the z-fold soft top, and neither affect storage space. The Club edition also features a 6-speed manual transmission, a shock tower brace, a sport-tuned suspension and Bilstein shocks(1).

The heart of the MX-5 Miata is under its hood. The 2-liter DOHC 4-cylinder puts out 167 hp at 7,000 rpm (that's just under the comparatively high redline of 7,200 rpm), plus 148 lb-ft of torque for zippy starts. The car is perfectly balanced at 50/50(1), for responsive handling and a confident feel.

Though the 2013 MX-5 Miata is a roadster, it is not a bare-bones affair.
