QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA, February 13, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- At Limestone Dental Group, Dr. Ian Lupton, Dr. Chris Raymont, Dr. Julia Tran and Dr. Aaron McMurtrie are excited to join in on The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) that began January 1, 2014. The availability of CDBS provides access to benefits for basic dental services to around 3.4 million children aged 2-17 years.

"This new program allows us to help children successfully care for their smiles so that they can smile with confidence for a lifetime. Sometimes dental care is avoided for children, but with CDBS, we can help keep your children smiling with healthy smiles," said Dr. Ian Lupton, a dentist in Ipswich.

This benefit is capped at $1,000 per child over a two-year calendar period. In order to receive this benefit, the CDBS has a means test, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or a relevant Australian Government payment. Through the CDBS, individual benefits are provides through the following services:

- Examinations
- X-rays
- Cleaning
- Fissure sealing
- Fillings
- Root canals
- Extractions

However, the individual benefits do not include orthodontic or cosmetic dental work. Additionally, these benefits cannot be paid for any services provided in the hospital. For more information on the CDBS and what is covered, parents can visit www.humanservices.gov.au/childdental.

"It is our goal to provide the children of Ipswich with quality dental care no matter what. With the availability of the CDBS, we can ensure that children receive the care they need without worrying about cost," said Ipswich dentist, Dr. Lupton.

Each year, millions of school hours are lost due to dental-related illnesses. Despite these numbers, many children still do not visit the dentist. More than almost 50 percent of tooth decay remains untreated in low-income children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The need for dental care should and cannot be ignored, which is why it is important for parents to make sure their child visits the dentist regularly to prevent difficulties later on. With the availability of the CDBS, children can receive the care they need.
