Perimeter Spine & Rehabilitation Center Agrees with Figure Skater: Back Surgery is Nothing to Hide From View

Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko plans to broadcast his back surgery on television.

ATLANTA, GA, March 21, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Atlanta's best pain management and rehabilitation center applauds a high profile athlete this week who plans to broadcast his spinal surgery on television. Perimeter Spine & Rehabilitation Center has been serving the communities of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Roswell, and Atlanta with the area's best techniques for back pain management for over ten years. They believe that a greater number of high-profile public figures should make their struggles with back issues known, and spread the word that there is hope for people suffering from chronic pain.

During the Sochi Olympics, superstar Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko dropped from the men's singles competition at the last minute, and announced his retirement from the sport altogether, which shocked the sports community. It was known by a small number of sports fans that Plushenko had received spinal surgery in the past, but the nature of the new problem was unclear.

On Monday, February 24, Plushenko publicized the precise nature of his medical situation. He had injured his back during olympic warmups, and took the issue seriously enough that he believed he could never compete again. However, he announced that upon reflection, his intention was to get surgery and make a full recovery. He wanted his struggle with his pain to be completely public. Not only would the public be kept aware of his condition, but they would be allowed to watch his surgery on live television.

"I think everybody already knows that the surgery will take place on March 2, and the broken bolt from an intervertebral disc will be taken out," he told the Russian media. At 31 years-old he is on the old side for his profession, but he is nonetheless planning to compete in the next winter games at the age of 35.

Back pain is considered by many to be a condition affecting only the elderly and infirmed. However, the number of people in the United States suffering from some form of back pain makes it clear that these issues are actually urgent for people of all ages. Americans who suffer from back pain, and receive helpful treatments, are now arguably in the majority, but nonetheless, certain kinds of treatments are regarded as unreliable, after a period in the late 1980s when many high profile cases of inadequately trained chiropractors appeared on the evening news. This is, fortunately no longer the case.

Perimeter Spine & Rehabilitation Center is an integrated practice where Medical Doctors with Orthopedic backgrounds work together with Psychiatrist, Neurologist, Physical Therapist, Rehabilitations Specialist, Neuro Muscular Therapist, and Chiropractors. The patients who receive treatment would do well to publicize the fact that they are no longer suffering as they once did. Often a lack of hope is one of the biggest barriers to seeking treatment, and finding pain relief.

At Perimeter Spine & Rehabilitation Center we provide a team approach to treating patients that specializes in multiple health disciplines in order to provide you the best in non-surgical treatment for your pain and injuries. The center is dedicated to bringing only the best quality of non-surgical and non-invasive health services designed to help restore your health and wellness.
