The Newly Opened Shangri-La Hotel Offers Two Afternoon Tea Menus

One of Shangri-La's in-house restaurants will serve British and Asian-inspired afternoon tea, reports LondonTown.com

LONDON, ENGLAND, May 15, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Now that the much anticipated Shangri-La Hotel, London has finally opened its doors, Londoners can book in for afternoon tea at the hotel's in-house restaurant, Ting. Deriving its name from the Chinese word for 'living room', Ting is the collective name for the hotel's restaurant and lounge on level 35 of The Shard. With a Chinoiserie interior that highlights the elegance of Chinese culture, the venue is a fantastic new option for afternoon tea in London.

As well as striking views of St Paul's Cathedral, The City of London and Tower Bridge, diners at Ting are also treated to the choice between two afternoon tea menus: the Classic British and an Asian-inspired alternative. The Classic menu features sweet treats such as Cappuccino Cake, with vanilla mascarpone cream, coffee bean-infused creme brulee, espresso coffee sponge and a white chocolate gaze; and Chocolate Temptation, combining chocolate sponge, red fruit-infused chocolate ganache and raspberry compote. While sandwiches include London smoked salmon and cream cheese, roasted chicken and grain mustard, and Scottish lobster with lemon and chives. Diners who choose the Asian menu, however, will be treated to delicacies such as a Chinese-style egg tart, prawn dumpling and roasted duck pancakes. Both menus feature the afternoon tradition of scones with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam, with both classic and chamomile options.

The Classic British menu costs GBP49 per person or GBP57 with a glass of champagne and the Asian menu costs GBP54 per person or GBP62 with a glass of champagne. As well as afternoon tea, Ting also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. For up-to-date information on new restaurant and hotel openings in London, visit LondonTown.com.
