Dental Team Attends The Star Of The South Dental Convention In 2014

    BELLAIRE, TX, May 18, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The hustle and bustle of the school year is starting to die down, and many parents and kids will have a relaxing summer ahead. At our West University dentist office, we are just getting started.

At the end of March, our dental team headed north for the 2014 Star of the South Dental Convention in Houston, Texas.

What Is Star of the South Dental Convention?
The obvious answer is that it is a dental convention, but it's more than that. This is a meeting between hundreds of Texas' finest dental teams. They gather once a year to discuss the future of dentistry and what they can give back to the patients.

The Greater Houston Dental Society holds this dental convention each year while keeping their mission in mind-"The Greater Houston Dental Society through education, services, and advocacy supports the area's dental profession in providing quality and ethical oral health care."

Why Are Conventions Beneficial to Our West University Dentistry Office?
They provide access to the newest dental research, technology and techniques. We also get to see what future social programs and special events are going on.

The theme this year was "Visualizing the Future of Dentistry," and that's what we do here as much as we can. We try to see into the future and decide what modern technology can help our patients the most. For example, we now employ the use of Invisalign, cosmetic dentistry services (veneers, bonding, contouring), teeth whitening treatments and dental implants.

About Dr. Karisha Lynn Madden, DDS:
Before pursuing dentistry, Dr. Madden was a Pediatric Cardiology Research Associate at Baylor College of Medicine and later became a sales representative for Abbott Pharmaceutical Spine Division. Her aptitude in science led her to a career in dentistry. Dr. Madden graduated from the University of Texas Dental Branch. Her passion for learning enables her to provide comprehensive patient education and dental care knowledge. Dr. Madden is also an active member of her community, offering dentistry to organizations such as Smiles on Wheels and Texas Mission of Mercy.
