Kwong Orthodontics Supports National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day

    PORTAGE, MI, May 21, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kwong Orthodontics doesn't just commit to treating orthodontic problems-this orthodontic team also supports their patients' overall wellbeing and community organized events. On Thursday, May 1st, Kwong Orthodontics in Portage set up a table to promote oral health awareness at the Kalamazoo community carnival, which was dedicated to National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day.

National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day is a part of the overall strategy for the Public Awareness and Support Strategic Initiative created by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the main campaign each is to "raise awareness about the importance of children's mental health and that positive mental health is essential to a child's healthy development from birth."

A child needs to be surrounded by a positive and supportive environment to grow and establish healthy practices. Dr. Kwong and his dental team support their patients' decisions, especially in regards to oral health, and will lead them to a healthier lifestyle with the help of braces. About Dr. Thomas Kwong:
Since his experiences with braces as an adolescent, Dr. Kwong has had a passion for dentistry. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Kwong and family moved to the Chicago area where he earned his doctorate from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. During dental school, Dr. Kwong was president of his class and received several awards for his service. His aptitude for dentistry led him to continue his studies at UIC for Orthodontics, receiving an Orthodontic certificate and a Masters of Science in Oral Sciences. His passion and excellence has created a practice that offers top-quality and personalized orthodontic care. On his time off, Dr. Kwong loves spending time with his wife, Dr. Chuandi Wang, and their child, Dominic, and he also coaches tennis.
