Death of Pedestrian Leaves Family Seeking Justice

The family of a woman killed when she was run over by a garbage truck has filed suit in Decatur today against the company and its driver.

SPRINGFIELD, IL, May 30, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On January 29, 2014, at about 7:00 a.m., Linda Pultz, was on her way to volunteer at a local senior center. She walked toward the bus stop on Sattley Street in Decatur when a garbage truck suddenly pulled out, striking her. She died from her injuries. The Macon County coroner determined that the left rear tires of the garbage truck ran over Ms. Pultz, breaking her leg, arm and then crushing her head.

The suit names Waste Management of Illinois and the driver of the truck, Mr. Robert Beitel as defendants. The suit alleges that Mr. Beitel failed to check his mirrors before pulling into the street and violated traffic laws. "Linda's death was entirely preventable. Our investigation has shown that if the driver had just looked in his mirrors before pulling away Linda would be alive today," said G. Grant Dixon III founder of the Dixon Law Office, the firm that represents the Pultz family. The suit seeks in excess of $50,000 in damages.
