HINSDALE, IL, June 14, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Many patients come to Dr. Saulis desiring a flatter stomach and abdomen through plastic surgery. She recommends to her Naperville patients a procedure called abdominoplasty, or better known as a "Tummy Tuck." Patients who have tried many trials of diet and exercise still cannot obtain the stomach they desire. Dieting and exercise may help you lose weight, but cannot help loose skin in the abdomen region.

A tummy tuck can give patients a flat stomach by tightening the inner girdle. This removes loose skin of the lower abdomen and tightens the skin of the upper abdomen. Abdominoplasty can also remove nearly all the fat of your lower abdomen as well as the stretch marks.

Just like any other medical procedure, abdominoplasty does have limitations. It will not remove stretch marks of your mid or upper abdomen. Scars from the procedure will extend across the lowest part of your abdomen, just above your bikini line, and possibly another scar around your belly button.

Patients most likely have never heard about the inner girdle. Everyone has one. The inner girdle extends from your rib cage down to your pubic bone and from one side of the abdomen to the other. The inner girdle is made up like gristle on a steak. It is situation between your rectus muscles and your abdominal fat. During pregnancy, the inner girdle stretches to accommodate a growing baby. After pregnancy, muscles regain tone, but the inner girdle is not quite as durable. Tummy tucks are a great way to help with this. Dr. Saulis will tighten the inner girdle and make it flatter, and definitely more appealing.

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure, and anesthesia is generally used. The length of surgery is one to three hours and patients may need to stay overnight for pain control. After the procedure, prescription pain medicine is recommended for 3-8 days after the surgery. Your abdomen will immediately look flatter after surgery and is well worth the low number of recovery days.

To know if a tummy tuck is best for your desperation of a flatter, more appealing stomach, contact our office today to schedule an appointment. Dr. Saulis will be able to discuss the options and the procedure in more detail with you and your own personal needs.
