Commercial Compressor Specialist, APM Cool, Discusses DOE Review of Energy Standards

The Carrier parts dealer, APM Cool, talks about the U.S. Department of Energy's recent assessment of refrigeration equipment energy standards. The DOE released a finalizing revision that is intended to significantly improve efficiency levels.

ATLANTA, GA, June 20, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Carrier parts supply company, APM Cool, would like to talk briefly about the report issued by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) late last month regarding commercial refrigeration equipment efficiency rates.

Apparently, the current standards have been considered unacceptable, as is evinced in the DOE's language that the new regulations, which have introduced major updates to the 2009 protocol, are to be set in stone. Its most recent report is far from a general assessment of HVAC energy efficiency. Rather, it is a massive undertaking that has plans to increase efficiency values upwards of 30 percent in the coming years.

DOE Lays out New Ground Rules for HVAC Efficiency
The 2014 protocol encompasses a wide range of commercial cooling equipment, including but not limited to freezers, remote condensing refrigerators, ice-cream freezers and many more. With the announcement of its official update, the DOE has set the deadline for businesses to meet the revised standards to no more than three years. Companies that fail to comply or experience delays in this respect could be subjected to fines.

The Trane compressor specialists note that in addition to business owners, it is also very important that HVAC service technicians be aware of the new efficiency protocol (formally referred to as "Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Commercial Refrigeration Equipment").

According to David DeBuc, Vice President of APM Cool, "With the inevitable changes in HVAC machinery design, field operators must be sufficiently trained in updated service techniques as well as be knowledgeable about the specific equipment they should be installing or retrofitting."
