UNION CITY, NJ, July 04, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The birth of a child is an experience no parent wants to forget, and as a midwife in the Rockland, Hudson and Bergen County areas, I aim to make it a joy to remember. Every woman and every birth is unique, but with each, I provide the same Hallmarks of Care.

I'm All Yours

When choosing a Rockland, Hudson or Bergen County midwife, you are selecting a professional who will be with you during one of the most intimate moments of your life. I understand the importance of not only trusting your midwife, but bonding with her. If you live in Rockland, Hudson or Bergen counties, I will be more than happy to come to your home for your prenatal visits. I do not impose time limits upon our visits, allowing the opportunity to become more familiar with each other and with the birthing process. These unrushed home visits enable you and me to establish a trusting relationship, and they allow me to get to know much more about you: your concerns, fears, and anything else you feel will help me to help you have a great birth. In this relaxed atmosphere, I have found that this deeper relationship reveals issues that might never have been discussed in the environment and time pressures of a busy practice. My unique practice of doing home prenatal visits during the day, evenings, or weekends often makes it easier for partners and other family members to attend, especially those who have children or work during the day. If you prefer, our visits can occur at my office in Union City, NJ. I offer an open channel of communication and can be reached in between appointments for any questions or concerns. Uniquely, I take just two patients due per month so that I can devote the time, energy, and resources entirely to you, so you may fully embrace the beauty of this life stage. I follow you through the entire pregnancy and birth, and you can rest assured that as a "dedicated" midwife I will be the one delivering your child into this world.

Comfort is Key

When preparing a woman for delivery, I ensure that she is comfortable physically and mentally by employing the techniques I have learned during my ten years of midwifery practice.

Comfort of body is an incredibly important part of the birthing process and I am committed to doing what is best for both mother and child to have a safe and healthy birthing outcome. If your pregnancy and labor are low risk, I encourage ambulation and free positioning to help you feel more comfortable and help your baby's journey of birth. To help with comfort and keeping labor and birth normal, I also include hydrotherapy to assist with labor using showers and, if desired, a tub that is available for rent. I encourage you to eat lightly and drink during your labor to give your body the energy it needs to birth normally. I utilize many methods of relaxation, including hypnobirthing, visualizations, massage and aromatherapy. These methods assist you to experience your birthing sensations as a powerful but comfortable process. This kind of support helps you to labor without fear and tension, which can prevent a physiological birth. These techniques also lower your chances of needing pain medication or an epidural, which can disrupt the physiological process of birth and increase medical risks. I have privileges at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey, which is where you would birth your baby with me. With my skills in promoting relaxation during birth and my skill and knowledge for facilitating a healthy and natural birth, you can be certain your family is in excellent hands.

Equally as important, however, is comfort of mind. I want to make sure that you are fully informed of the whole process and understand that, as your midwife, I am here to guide you through this beautiful time in your life. I have written a comprehensive Pregnancy Orientation Handbook just for you and am constantly updating it as new practices and recommendations emerge. This book and our prenatal visits are designed to dispel any preconceived notions or fears you may have about pregnancy, ensuring ease of mind and peace of spirit. I also want you to know that I am expertly trained to recognize the signs of problems during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and I will consult with my collaborating physician without hesitation if necessary. Knowing that I will keep you and your baby safe is of great comfort to women birthing with me.

My goal is that each woman I care for leaves each appointment feeling listened to, having her questions answered, and feeling informed about what is happening at each phase of pregnancy. My hope is that as each woman approaches her Birthing Day, she feels confident, prepared, relaxed, and ready to fully experience all of the sensations of labor and birth without fear.

A midwife is a pivotal person in your and your child's life and choosing one can be difficult. With these heartfelt Hallmarks of My Care, I hope to make both your decision and your birth an easy one.
