VANCOUVER, BC, August 13, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Manitou Galleries is pleased to announce their annual Auction in Santa Fe taking place on August 17th and 18th, 2014. Online bidding for this exciting event will take place online via iCollector.com with bidding technology powered by The Live Auction Group. Bidders can register online and place bids before the sale or bid live during this important event.

Manitou Galleries holds this auction every August in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico. They are one of the foremost galleries in the West with locations in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Cheyenne, Wyoming. Bob and Charla Nelson have built an outstanding reputation through their galleries and auctions, and have been established for over three decades. Manitou Galleries serves not only a strong local audience, but a significant network of national and international collectors and artists.

The vaults of Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas have been re-opened to offer artworks by Birger Sandzen (1871 - 1954) exclusively through Manitou Galleries and this auction event. Mr. Sandzen taught at Bethany College for several years and his works along with many others including his students are up for auction to the highest bidder. An absolutely outstanding piece of artwork from him is showing up in the first day of the event at Lot 111 in the online catalog. This painting is an oil on board of a Kansas landscape with dimensions of 40 x 48 inches. This stunning painting is signed by Mr. Sandzen and already had several absentee bids place by collectors. Bidders are encouraged to view the images on iCollector.com, go through the simple registration process, and place their bids. The proceeds of the artwork from Bethany College will aid them in the process of expanding their outstanding campus.

Another well-known collector, Ken Holm (CO), has brought selected art from his vast collection with renowned artists and sculptors from around the country. And an exciting piece of art from the collection of Gregory Perillo is a Hermann Herzog (1832 - 1932) oil canvas on board entitled "Sunset on Glacier." This is signed on the lower right by the artist and is 18 by 24 inches in size.

In addition to such important art, this auction will have dozens of Native American collectibles including baskets, beadwork, weaponry, beaded and quilled bags, and beautiful weavings. One such weaving comes up for bidding at Lot 135. This stunning Navajo weaving measures 7 ft 8 inches by 5 ft 4 inches. It is an exquisite old Teec Nos Pos weaving with very finely woven fabric made with all long staple and finely hand carded Churro sheep wool. This weaving is attributed to the great master weaver, Ruth Yabany, who was active from 1910 to 1991. This piece was made circa 1930's.

With over 600 lots in this 2 day event, Manitou Galleries will deliver something for every collector nationally and internationally. Bidders not visiting Santa Fe in person, are invited to bid live via iCollector.com. It is simple to visit the website, search for Manitou Galleries, and get ready for the auction.
