Dr. Leonard Stern Honored for His Medical Expertise

    NEW YORK, NY, August 21, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Leonard Stern, a doctor at Columbia University Medical Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nephrology.

Dr. Stern has 33 years of experience working as a doctor at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself as an expert in treating kidney diseases, as well as the study of bone and mineral metabolism and peritoneal dialysis. His other areas of focus include hemodialysis, home dialysis, pancreas and kidney transplants.

Dr. Stern completed a fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 1981, directly on the heels of an earlier fellowship with Montefiore Hospital at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1979. He earned his MD from New York Medical College in 1975, and he completed an internship and residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Jacobi Medical Center in NYC. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the International Society of Nephrology, International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis, American Society of Nephrology, American College of Physicians, National Kidney Foundation, Inc., and The New York Society of Nephrology. In recognition of his talent and dedication to the field, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and was presented with the prestigious Samuel Spiegel Award at graduation from medical school. His current goal is to enhance his knowledge of medical nutrition therapy by pursuing a post-doctoral degree at the Columbia University Institute of Human Nutrition where he is currently enrolled in a masters degree program.
