Chicago's Bistrot Zinc Features Seasonal Fall Menu

September is one of the best months for produce

Chef Tim Kirker offers a new special seasonal menu at featuring contemporary French preparations at Chicago's Bistrot Zinc

CHICAGO, IL, September 25, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- While Bistrot Zinc's success can be attributed to many things, one of the most important is that each month Chef/Partner Tim Kirker offers a new special seasonal menu featuring contemporary French preparations.

"September is one of the best months for produce because so much varie ty is available," says Chef Kirker. "It also is the month when Chicago weather begins to transition from warm to cool, and people begin to seek out a bit heartier menu items. So in September, I try to offer a nice blend of both light and robust. For example, heirloom tomatoes are still plentiful and delicious in September so I've included them on the menu. The salmon dish is light, perfect for a warmer day, while the braised pork cheeks are very satisfying on cooler days."

September's seasonal specials include appetizers such as Swiss chard tart with petit salad ($8.95), Warm octopus salad with roasted peppers and fresh thyme ($13.95), Griddled bucheron cheese with peaches and balsamic ($8.95), Venison terrine with pistachios and sour cherry chutney ($8.95), Heirloom tomatoes with French feta and basil oil ($8.95), and House papardelle with arugula pistou, Gulf shrimp, and pear tomatoes ($16.95).

September's special entrees include Grilled Salmon with Carrot-Leek Ragout and Tarragon Beurre Blanc ($23.95), Sauteed Skate with Brown Butter, Capers, and Lemon ($24.95), Braised Pork Cheeks with Mushroom Ragout and Egg Noodles ($23.95), and Pan-Roasted Chicken Breast with Corn Pudding and Haricots Verts ($21.95).

Special side dishes for September include: Mushroom saute with sherry cream ($5.95), Corn and brioche pudding ($5.50), Sauteed spinach ($4.95). Ratatouille ($5.50), Pommes frites ($4.95), and Haricots verts ($5.50).

In addition to the special seasonal menu, guests will always find a wide selection of classic dishes that are virtually synonymous with the term "French bistrot." Popular items include starters such as Escargots BZ or the classic Soupe a l'Oignon, French Onion Soup, and classic entrees such as Steak Frites and Vol-au-Vent, the stew du jour in puff pastry with creme fraiche mashed potatoes.
