EV-68, Ebola, STAPH Outbreaks Causing Increased Concern Among Parents - New Technology Can Help

GermLogic Provides schools and medical facilities with a New Defense for eliminating microbes, including STAPH & EV-68; with a new high-intensity UV Light technology to sanitize risk-prone areas.

DALLAS, TX, October 16, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- GermLogic, Inc., a leader in germicidal solutions, has a new solution for fighting germs that are literally infesting our environments everyday. The company's new offering, a patented UVC Technology, can disinfect entire rooms in a matter of minutes without the use of harsh chemicals.

"This technology is helping limit infection and illness, particularly in schools, athletic facilities, and medical centers," said Brian DiCicco, CEO, GermLogic, Inc. "Our work with local area schools is a great example of how our new product is truly helping cut-down on the spread of some of the most dangerous germs."

Even in the cleanest environments, many kinds of microbes will begin to multiply on surfaces and sometimes reach harmful levels. Pathogenic bacteria, such as MRSA/STAPH and E.coli can be spread via cross-contamination, which can lead to infection and illness in humans and animals. A USA TODAY investigation showed that MRSA, once confined to hospitals, are emerging in communities and infecting an increasing number of children in schools, prison populations, even in athletic locker rooms.

Concerns are also being raised due to recent outbreaks of EV-68, since it is mainly affecting children, with Texas now reporting 11 cases of this fast spreading enterovirus. The reporting of an Ebola case in Texas, has only served to heighten the sensitivity to these infectious diseases. Parents are looking for answers, but most importantly, reassurance for the safety of their children. GermLogic's UVC Technology has been shown to be effective at eliminating highly dangerous microbes in public environments.

"We have been using GermLogic's UVC treatments to help reduce germs and bacteria in our school," said Judy Carpenter, Principal, Covenant Academy. "We feel positive that GermLogic's treatments have proven to be effective and necessary addition to our general cleaning protocol, while reducing absences."

Contamination are particularly dangerous in facilities with vulnerable users, such as long-term care facilities, where as many as 380 thousand residents die annually from harmful bacteria. Yet, many facilities still use traditional methods that are proving to be increasingly insufficient, including hand washing and chemical disinfectants.

By contrast, UVC technology used by GermLogic has been shown to be safe and effective against a broad spectrum of virus, fungi, bacteria, algae, and yeast. However, it does not rely on manual application of cleaning agents, and can therefore, can be much more effective.

UVC Technology utilizes advancements in a high-output, C-band, ultra-violet light. The UVC output eliminates pathogens and decontaminates the air and from virtually every surface in the treated area at a rate of 250 cubic feet per minute. This output is more than sufficient to kill Clostridium difficile spores and/or the MRSA bacteria in 5 minutes.
