Raleigh Collaborative Divorce Attorneys Present "Managing Grief and Loss During Divorce" for Stephen Ministries Group

As part of the continuing education program for Stephen Ministries, the commissioned Stephen Ministers at Hayes Barton Baptist Church will be offered advanced training on how to be good caregivers for those who are going through a time of divorce.

RALEIGH, NC, November 07, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mark Springfield and Kerry Burleigh of Raleigh-based Springfield Collaborative Divorce will be providing an educational seminar for the commissioned Stephen Ministers at Hayes Barton Baptist Church from 8:30-9:30 a.m. November 9, 2014. Springfield has been helping train Stephen Ministers in how to support members of their congregations during the crisis of divorce at area churches for over a decade. Stephen Ministry is a one-to-one caring ministry in which members of a church congregation are trained in the Stephen System to provide support to people who are hurting.

Springfield and Burleigh are uniquely qualified to train Stephen Ministers because of their work in the collaborative divorce field. Unlike stereotypical divorce lawyers, the lawyers at Springfield Collaborative Divorce have chosen to work with individuals who are divorcing completely outside of the court system, using collaborative law proceedings. They recognize that divorce is more than a legal process. It's an emotional, financial, and spiritual journey.

Collaborative Law Proceedings provide a structured plan to reduce conflict between separating parties and help them come to resolutions using an interest-based negotiation model. The Collaborative Divorce method encourages cooperation instead of confrontation. It creates an environment where a couple can divorce with dignity and display respect, integrity and kindness toward each other.

Divorce can also have a damaging effect on the children that can oftentimes be caught in the middle of a divorce contest. "Collaborative divorce focuses parents on problem solving for the needs of their children both during the divorce and for their future," said Burleigh. "Even if they have to raise their children from two different homes, they can still be the great parents they've always tried to be."

The event is closed to the public, but Springfield and Burleigh are always open to sharing more about the collaborative divorce process. If you are interested in scheduling a speaking engagement, please call publicist Christina Motley at 919-208-0963 or email [email protected].
