Teen's Celebrity Prom Proposal Results in Epic YouTube Collaboration

When thirteen-year-old Dylan Williams asked his celebrity crush, YouTube superstar, Ellary Porterfield of "Video Game High School" fame to "Vidcon Prom," he never guessed that he would instead end up creating his own YouTube video with her.

I am a strong believer in taking opportunities before you can convince yourself not to, otherwise you may miss out on some amazing experiences that you would never have even thought were possible.

LOS ANGELES, CA, November 14, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Creators, best friends, and middle schoolers, Williams and Augie Isaac, developed their web series, "240 Reviews," to critique video games and movies in under 240 seconds. Their reviews often end up as comedy sketches and musical numbers.

The pair attended VidCon this year, the convention for those who love online videos held at the Anaheim Convention Center to meet fans and fellow YouTubers and to attend panels of other channels. At the "Video Game High School" Q & A, Williams stood up in the packed conference room and asked his celebrity crush, and star of the web series, Ellary Porterfield, to "VidCon Prom."

Although Porterfield couldn't make it to the prom, she caught up with Williams later and gave him a note saying that she would love to guest star alongside him in an upcoming video for his YouTube Channel, "240reviews."

Porterfield, who stars as Ki Swan in "Video Game High School," one of the most popular series on YouTube, describes how she was surprised by the proposal. "When Dylan invited me to VidCon prom I was completely flustered. I said I never went to prom, but what I meant to say was no one ever asked before. But that's what 240 Reviews does-- they make dreams come true," she says with a laugh.

"When Ellary offered to make a video with us I was blown away," said Williams. "There's being a nice person who is kind to their fans and then there is doing everything in your power to make them as happy and successful as you are. Ellary is both of those types of people combined."

Williams and Isaac jumped on the opportunity to collaborate with a YouTube star and presented her with a script they penned a few weeks later. Titled, "Younger Games" it is a parody of the "Hunger Games" series in which Katniss (played by Porterfield) is comically thrown into competition with preschoolers.

"Filming the Younger Games with them was in fact a dream, a perfect day," said Porterfield. "Cupcakes, physical comedy, and rapid fire rounds of improv. I couldn't keep up with them-- they're rock stars."

Williams and Isaac had just as much fun working with Porterfield. Isaac said working with her was "a dream come true, and [that] it could not have gone any better. She was the sweetest, nicest person who exceeded any expectations I had prior to working with her. Quite simply, she was awesome!"

Williams thinks there is a valuable lesson to be learned from his bold proposal. "I am a strong believer in taking opportunities before you can convince yourself not to, otherwise you may miss out on some amazing experiences that you would never have even thought were possible."
